Seacraft06
I am mounting a Garmin GT51M-TM transducer on my 20 Pathfinder. Anyone have any pics of their transom and where theirs is mounted and how good does it work in that spot. Will it work in the pocket above the drain plug? FunFlatsFishing
I've had a Garmin, Lowrance and now a Simrad total scan transducer mounded off the back near the trim tab. Works at low and high speeds. See below pic.

Capt. Tyler
I use the same location as above ^
Seacraft06
This above location works good at all speeds? Does it affect the side scan capabilities since it is right next to the lower unit? Thanks for the help.
East Coast Dave
Mine works great here. I bought the splash guard from Garmin after the picture was taken since I was getting a spray on the motor when running.

smilemaker
If you mount it in the pocket do not put it directly in front of the motor as it will airate the prop and you will loose efficiancy and speed. My next sidescan transducer will be in the pocket but as far to the right as possible.
RICH12
Smilemaker is right. I mounted that same transducer exactly as mentioned. Works fantastic. Glad I did. Jp Edited July 3, 2016 by RICH12

sigmonster
I like your idea of mounting in the stern pocket. Go to the Sternmate website--they have pictures of a Ranger with the transducer mounted there and details about mounting transducers. Ultimately, you wont know for sure how it works or effects the prop until you try it. At least with the Sternmate, you have more variability with the exact location and if it doesn't work well you can leave the adhesive base with no holes in your hull. I plan to do this myself on TRS 2400 this winter.
AntonRx
hey guys, curious to know. when mounting the transducer, do you want it level/flush with the hull or a little below it? Mounting my new one tmro.
smilemaker
The instructions will tell you but generally you want the transducer slightly below. If it has sidescan you want the entire side in the water. Here is a picture of my 2200 with a lowrance all in one transducer. It reads sidescan and downscan at full spread but at high speed it outruns any detail. The depth reading at full speed is very accurate.
