Coto
Don’t exaggerate it was only $94,000 and change. It did have a SHO 150…what a bargain! 1
geeviam
You'd think that this rate of inflation would slow down sales. But limited supply has everyone on a waiting list for just about everything. Strange times.
THE OUTLAW
Anyone , who would even consider , paying that much , for that boat needs their head examined . 🇺🇸🏴☠️
Moderator
If you go to a boat show, you will see insanity. Incredible increases in base prices in the past 8 months. By all manufacturers. Lots of display boats without motors.. It would be interesting to hear that perspective.. You wonder which parts can’t be obtained and what alternatives they are having to choose. We know about the motor supply, or lack thereof. No politics.. Please. MM
redzone1
Me looking at this forum is getting to be about like me looking at private jets……..what’s the point anymore. They are beyond luxury items now. These boats used to be for serious fishermen. Now they are only for rich people that may or may not know what they are doing on the water. whichwaysup
I remember when I bought my current MA. I was tinking "gosh, do I really want to spend that money?" Then the stringer issue, and I thought "I'm crazy to fix this thing and throw good money after bad". Now, I'm thinking "Dang, what a bargain!"
smilemaker
It's all supply and demand. I hope like many that our thoughts on supply outpacing demand in 3 years will flood the market with slightly used boats. It would be nice to think that $98,0000 will end up on a megayacht and in 3 years the owner wants something new and it can be bought for its true value.
redzone1
Unfortunately I cannot think of a time in recent history (in the last 20 years) when the price of new boats ever went down.
smilemaker
The used market has the potential in the future. Many people buying today don't realize the upkeep costs. Even when just sitting

NCTribute
Would interesting to know what percentage of the boats sold in a year are replacements for stolen and weather (hurricanes, etc) damaged boats. Not saying it has anything to do with the current inflated prices, just curious as it would be a better indicator of new boat owners. Perfect storm right now with high demand due to staycations and supply shortages, the next significant economic downturn could prove to be really interesting on how the boat and rv industries fair. redzone1
I remember somewhere around 2009/10 MBC had a refurbish shop where they were working on used MBC boats because there was very little demand for new boat sales.

whichwaysup
Who ARE these people? Dude, I'm a dad of 5 kids and we budget every penny just to keep food on the table (literally). We just bought a pig last year and now a quarter cow to try to hedge against rising food prices. Blowing almost 300K on a new boat that you get to use occassionally . . . I'm not envious, but who are these people???
Headhunter
Had a call out of the blue yesterday from someone looking to buy my 18HPX. Offered me $75k. I built the same boat on the website $89K. The boat is still here. I might need some more locks to secure it on its lift.
Waterman18
In 1993 I bought a Maverick 17' w trailer and 90 hp Yamaha for 17K. Using an inflation calculator ,that 34k in todays dollars. A 17' HPX is selling today for 60K bare bones. No wonder Scott Deal is a multi-millionaire!!
Moderator
Scott Deal sold the company a couple years ago. The prices have only spiked in the last year or so.. Motors and fiberglass products have contributed significantly to the boat prices. All the boatbuilders are scrambling to meet cost increases. None of us are complaining about selling our boats for more than we paid for them.. Thank you Scott and Skip !! I find myself sounding like my parents when they got older: I remember when gas was 29 cents a gallon. (1972) MM
THE OUTLAW
They used to say to not buy a new car , because it loses 50% , of its value , in the first couple years . Ford wants to buy my two year old truck back , right now , for only $2,500 less than what I paid for it new . 🇺🇸🏴☠️
