vinnybugs
would a 17 ft Master angler be underpowered with a 90 hp yamaha thanks

For me personally, yes. IMO the perfect 90 hp motor would be a Suzuki DF90A with the 2.59:1 gear ratio, or the perfect 115 hp motor would be the Mercury ProXS 115 with the 2.38:1 gear ratio Command Thrust lower unit.
HoneyB
I have never never run a 17 maverick. I do own a 16 Redfisher with a 90 two stroke. I would say yes the 17 would be under powered with 90hp. Heck I would put a 115 on my Hewes if I had money to burn.
HewesYourDaddy
I would always go with max engine size allowed for most any boat, if possible. I had a 90hp on my Bonefisher, and wished the original had put largest engine on it. It's nice to have that extra power when you need it.
SaltySouth
There is an 17 master angler running around here with a 2 stroke 90. You can hear it a mile away. The motor seems to be working pretty hard.
MuddyBottomBluz
Do not remember who it was on the forum but he had a quote which I still stand-by......................................Nobody ever complained about having too much power!

jaco2
i would say 115 at a minimum the 17 ma rides pretty flat,so there is alot of boat in the water, hence its not a speed demon. mine runs 45 with 115 e tech
FLDXT
I had a 17MA DF140, I wouldn't even attempt one with a 90. Id imagine it would be a dog and you'd never be happy with it. MA are not small little sniffs, they are big flats boats, better to have it and not need it, then not to have it and need it.
