cumberlandjg
I have a 200 Yamaha VMAX HPDI with a blown cylinder. Gasket went bad, water got in, rest is history. Question is now to repower or rebuild? Rebuild would obviously be a quicker option assuming parts are available but a repower would ensure a longer warranty and obviously a brand new motor but problem is you cant find a motor anywhere these days readily available. If it were up to you what would you repower with? I am of the opinion go ahead and put a 250 SHO on the back and be done with it. Any other opinions? Thanks in advance

Bamaskeet
200 HPDI’s are great engines but yours is getting “ a little long in the tooth”. I would consider repowering but you will have to hunt hard for a engine.
cumberlandjg
I am hearing anywhere from 6-9 months for a new motor. I am down a cylinder so can still fish but with that wait time and the cost of motors would it make sense to rebuild currently? Doesn't seem wise to rebuild a 17 year old motor, will probably be in same situation in 2 years with a rebuild.
Lap it Up
Look into a reman powerhead. If you are handy the job can be done in a few hours with basic hand tools and an engine hoist. Give these guys a shout. They are the best in the business. https://www.hydrotecmarine.com/
cumberlandjg
I am leaning to a 250 Suzuki I think considering price point and availability I can find. Heard Yamaha anywhere from 4 months to a year out. Anyone have good or bad to share with zukes?

Only heard good things about it including cost and wty. 200 is very good on older 2200v models.
scottsflyshop
I have a 250 zuke on the back of a 2007 2200xl - it's more than enough motor. If the price was right on little less hp, I wouldn't hesistate much.
