MuddyBottomBluz
Just so you know, or may already know, that is not an original "70's" style platform. I think the guy who made them is actually still alive and living somewhere on the East Coast. I know "Mother Ocean" in Key Largo has a 90's style platform for sale, just saw it on Thursday. I will keep an eye out for ya!
FLboy159
@MuddyBottomBluzThanks. My nephew just picked up a 71 Hewes. I’m helping him with his now that I have finished mine. Was that platform posted on mbg?
MuddyBottomBluz
Just a little history; the poling platform did not make it on a Hewes boat until 75/76, before that they stood on the cowling. The original platform had no fancy radius's, just straight pipe and they had a unique clamp style type holder that attached it to the transom. Here is a link on this site for an original platform........ You cannot see the mounting system though, but this is an original Hewes poling platform. I have pictures of the mounting system, and the whole platform for that fact, on a old hard drive I need to access so when I do I will post it.
FLboy159
That’s a good looking boat. That’s good information, I did not know exactly when the poling platform first made an appearance. This is my 71 that I restored.
MuddyBottomBluz
Nice ride! I posted something about the original poling platform on Hewes boats, and how they came up with the idea but when the upgraded the website that info does not show up anymore.
