nigel
A local guy is selling is 95 Hewes Redfisher 18. He's asking 27k. Based on what you see here, is that a good deal? I've never bought a boat before and dammit, its time that I do. Just looking for some solid advice before I get in over my head. I know I want a flats style boat. 1995 Hewes 18’ Redfisher in great condition, 2006 150 Vmax Yamaha outboard, trailer is in great condition stays undercover and has a cover. Fish Lights inside and out. 2021 Garmin and transducer, custom full sea deck full JL audio, amp, radio and 4 8” speakers.
geeviam
The boat, motor and trailer probably sold for around $20K, or less, when it was new. A 26 year-old hull that has not undergone a complete restoration, could have problems under the surface, that a newcomer to boating wouldn't see. It's not a great deal if you ask me, but boat prices are off-the-charts crazy-high right now. My advice is if you really want it, have the hull and motor inspected by a certified professional who can tell you how much more money you will have to sink into the boat, for repairs, once you own it. Then you can bargain with the seller if the selling price is not realistic.
fin-addict
Boat from the outside look very good and well maintained. See new paint on the engine. Did not state engine hrs. Does he have maint records. A lot of Seadek on her at can cover a lot of ills for a boat that old. Definitely have the boat and engine checked out by a professional. Seems pricey for the age of the rig. Looks like the console had work done due to the flush mount gps. Not sure of the color for that age. May be a repaint. Get as much history on that sled as possible. From the pics it does not appear to have a TM, JP, PP and poling platform. Sorry but that is a high price for not having what I list. JMO. Grandson in law recently picked up the same boat a few months back for 12k, great price and was in very good condition. Needed a few things done to it. Less than $500. Has a 115 hp. Best of luck. 😀👍⚓️ Fin
HoneyB
27 grand is a home run number for the owner. It looks to be a clean boat with some add on’s. Sea Deck, motor paint and some decals. All flashy stuff but 27 grand worth? I would not think so. I would look around to see what else you can buy for 27,000. I bet you can find a newer hull with four stroke for that kind of money.

nigel
Thank you all for the feedback. With no Jack plate, trolling or power pole, he may be too high. I got him to 25 but then I gotta put 5k of stuff on it...
Josh B
It's a nice looking boat, but like others said... you'll have to look harder or bring someone experienced to inspect hull, stringers, bulkheads and do compression test on motor. I'd take a hard look at that fuel tank as well. This applies for this boat and any others you look at. The accessories add up quick, especially if you're paying someone to install them. Don't be in a rush, take your time while shopping. I'm not sure what your priorities are for the boat, you might narrow down your search criteria based on your needs. fin-addict
That’s 30k right off the bat for a 95 which may have unknown issues, sorry my friend, I would pass on this. As stated, look at you needs and wants and adjust accordingly. There is one out there for you. Don’t rush it and have buyers remorse. 😀👍⚓️ Fin
Toeknee217
I share the same opinion as many others above. That boat is over priced with that older 2 stroke on the back IMO. With low hours and perfect structural condition id say its an $18k setup. If you're patient, you can buy one of these boats with original power for cheap and put a brand new engine on the back or find one that has already been done. 27k is a lot of money.

If MBG boats that old are bringing that price...🙋♂️ I seem to recall having a 96 Master Angler in the garage...twin power poles and troller included...and you won't have to haggle to get me down to 25...and as an added bonus...no heavy high tech 4 stroke to fool with. No sir...just the OEM power plant the boys in Ft. Pierce hung on it back in 96 with a paltry 800 hours...slight less actually. Might could even be persuaded to throw in both my FMT chips too...🤔 with cash deal of course 😎
