RI256
Bilge pump crapped out ! It was working 3 days ago in my yard...just floated it and now it's not working. Where should I start looking for problems ? I've checked all the fuses. Does anyone know which make and model of pump this is ?
Bamaskeet
Most bilge pumps have two ways to energize. The float switch and the switch on the dash. Generally bilge pump float switch tend to be less reliable than the pump itself.
Bruce J
First try activating it with the switch on your console. Make sure your battery switch is on first. If the pump comes on, then the motor is still good and you just have an issue with your float switch. If you can get to the pump, release it from its basket/base and then you can check the float. You should feel the float from underneath the pump. Push it up and see if the pump comes on. If it did you probably just have some junk in the pump which is causing the float to stick. Clean it all out well and put it back in the base and try it out.
