Bruce J
I just had this new water intake installed on my Maverick HPXT. It’s a beautifully designed and built system by a gentleman Mac in Victoria, Texas. It’s a machined intake flush mounted to the bottom/back of the transom so that if the hull is touching water, the intake will bring it up. It then runs through an-line filter and is tapped back into the lower unit/impeller area, bypassing the original intakes. While it will allow the motor to run completely above the water, the boat already ran super skinny. What it didn’t do well was avoid the floating grass which would wrap the lower unit and quickly shut off all water intake. This system will avoid that problem completely. The grass will still catch the lower unit but won’t have any impact on cooling. Mac has been running prototypes for 3 years now on his HPXT with no problems. He’s also installing them in the new Chittums coming to Texas. He’s a one-man shop with a full time job, so check in with him about availability if interested: macjank7@gmail.com
