SeaSerpent123
Weather was really looking great and boy was it calm. Not a breath of air for most of the morning. Made our way up Joe's to shark and fished the outside area. We found a bait school of minnos and large mullet. All we did all morning was work the edge of the bait school and picked off red after red. I did jump a small tarpon but after about the 2nd jump, it had thrown the hook. What a great trip once again and guess what.....no catfish. lol We ended up catching 15 reds, 1 black drum and 10 trout. By 12:00, I was done and on the way home. 3
Wanaflatsfish
You definitely have the beginners luck at Flamingo.....it's not always as good as you are doing....so, enjoy it while you can...... I ended up finding out at 8pm on Friday that I didn't have to work so I called DonH and we went to Chokoloskee....got shut out....no bait around, weird tide....we fished the front, ran to the back, moved about 10 times and only found one red and a bunch of under slot trout - one keeper - ran 60 miles..... DC Funny you should say that about the tide, it was weird for us as well. Almost no tide at all. I mean it was moving but not a lot. I knew it would be a hard day but finding the bait school was key to our success. Most of our trout were under sized as well, did manage 5 keepers though but at 15.5 inches. Not like the last trip the month before when they were all 17 and 18 inch fish. Lots of boats heading off shore with the flat calm conditions. Heard of a few cobia being caught but probably on wrecks with the permit. One good thing I learned was the bottom at the spot. The water was so clear, I could see the bar, the trees underwater etc. Each trip is a learning experience so I now have a better understanding of that one point. THE OUTLAW
Sunday was beautiful . Fished for 15 min and got dinner . Then went back , to explore , the Old Timers village , that we found , last time we were there . We found a house with picket fence around it , an old fire pit , with moonshine jars in it , old car engines and a cistern for water . Supposed to be alot more there , so we will be back . Then went out front , to a private secluded beach , for some peace and quiet , and lunch . Loving every minute , in the Glades . Not loving the fact that this site on purpose always posts pictures the wrong way ! 👎🏻 🇺🇸🏴☠️

jh141
They start just past the Park boundary markers. I have seen them as far as 15 miles out. There a good bet this time of year if you get a nice day. The Gulf gets awful unfriendly with just a little wind. 23 hours ago, SeaSerpent123 said: How far out are they? Next trip, thinking of doing camping at one of their eco tents. I"m not a camper....Holiday Inn is about as rough'n as I like after 3 years in the Corps......that being said, so long as you keep the boat on land while you are camping I heard the ECO tents are pretty nice.....But, if you camp with someone who has experience you can explore out to Cape Sabel and the beaches.....but, every year, at least 1-2 skiff/bay boats are lost to the gulf when a front comes through and the anchors break loose and they are buried in sand on the beach...the pics are pretty ugly....you need some experience on how to set the boat when beach camping.... Enjoy... DC

jh141
Could all that construction @ Flamingo be a new lodge finally being built......... Another option to ECO Tents is rent a houseboat and never untie it from the dock.
