Fisherman
Hello there. Its been 9 year since my last post. I quite fishing for a while. Now I m getting my boat ready for the season and would like to repower. Been thinking in a mercury XSpro. Was wondering if someone in the forum has done it before. Would like to hear comments. Thanks for your help guys.
DaveB
We repowered to a Mercury 150 4 stroke on our 2008 22 XL. We previously had been running a Yamaha 250. Prior to having the 2008 I had a 2002 22v with a 200 Vmax. The difference in the old lighter boat going to the heavier boat and engine was dramatic. The old boat felt like a race car and the 2008 felt like an overloaded pickup truck. While we lost some top end going from a trimed out 50 mph to a top end of about 42 with the Mercury the boat handles so much better. The hole shot is improved and there is no porpoising at all. Much quieter and of course far better fuel economy. Really very happy with the change
wrhatt
Dave B, do you know what year between 2002 and 2008 that the weight of the 22' went up?
SW Skif
I repowered a ‘99 2200v. I went with a standard 150 Mercury 4stroke 3.0l. Top speed is about 48 now, depending on loads and seas. Very quiet and the fuel efficiency is the same as a Dolphin skiff I used to have.
