  3. I am documenting the process of restoring my 1993 Hewes Bonefisher 16 originally owned by Cpt. Jared Raskob’s father of Silver Kings TV. I picked this boat up in South Carolina last summer with out any knowledge of the boat’s history. Coincidentally I stumbled on a hewes bonefisher post on Instagram and recognized the font of the registration numbers along with a custom walk board on the trailer. “That’s my boat!” I knew it. Turns out it has seen more fish and sites down in the Florida keys with Cpt. Jared and his father at the helm than I could ever claim. I knew when I purchased the boat that one day I would want to update it and get it looking it’s best again, even better than new. The 1993 Hewes Bonefisher lappy had a solid 2006 Yamaha 90 2 stroke on the back and I ran it the rest of that summer no issues pushing 40-43 WOT. After a full service and carb rebuild, seals, thermostat, water pump, plugs it was running strong. No Jack plate but I did upgrade to Bennett’s electric trim tabs which work great. The hull is structurally in great shape but has been used for all the right reasons and it shows, faded Gelcoat, old patch jobs from holes drilled for different applications, stress cracks in the corners you get the idea. Finally after searching for a proper reason to de rig my favorite boat to personally restore it I found it. A 2018 Mercury Pro XS 115.. it’s slightly used with under 100 hours, paid cash from a local on FB marketplace and no dealer install fees, back orders or taxes to deal with I knew I could make that work by selling (maybe regretfully) the Yamaha 90 2 smoke. Once I had the bonefisher down to it’s “Bare Bones” stage with everything de-rigged it was time to get into the glass work of re coring the console and going around the transom and hull with fiberglass repairs. The console which used to look like a shotgun target is now completely filled and ready for new control/gauge cut outs and fresh awlcraft 2000 topcoat. All the fun and necessary tedious prep work is beginning on the hull itself using all awlgrip systems. I have removed the front half of the bow cap to allow access to the fuel tank. I figure since I’m knowingly adding weight to the transom with the new Pro XS that I will have a larger capacity fuel tank made and will build a shelf for 2 trolling motor batteries in the forward compartment to balance it all out. Fuel tank is drawn up and I am getting it cut and welded this week and should have the hull flipped over for fairing and paint while it’s an empty shell ASAP. I will use this thread as a time line of the progress for the “Bare Bones” build. Hope this helps anyone who wants to tackle a similar task get started and is fun to follow along as I get into it!

  7. Hey all - Reaching out in the hopes that somebody knows somebody who knows somebody who has a supply of Fighting Lady Yellow gel coat in the ~year 2000 vintage. I need a TINY amount to address a couple areas on my 2000 Maverick MA, but spectrum only has it in gallons and they want ~$700 for it! If anyone has any that I can buy a portion of for a reasonable price, I'd be eternally grateful, and if anyone else needs the same thing, maybe we can go in on it together. I hate the idea of paying 175 for a quart, but it's better than $700 for a gallon! And will you STOP IT with the emojis? Oh, wait, are those fighting lady yellow?

    21 Master Angler

This is a one of a kind Maverick Master Angler. I will let the pictures do the talking on this post. Let me start off by giving everyone a little background on this boat. Shortly after buying my first MBC product 10 years ago I fell in love with the MA 21. I have owned 6 MBC boats (3 Pathfinders, 2 Hewes, and this MA). This has, by far, been my favorite and there is no doubt in my mind why this hull is so popular amongst the MBC community. I purchased this boat about 2 years ago and took it directly to the rebuild shop. All of the work was performed by one of the country's premier yacht builders. They have asked that I not share their name because this was a one-off deal and they will never refit a boat of this size again. If someone is a serious buyer I will then share that information. The vessel spent more than a year in the shop undergoing this refit. As you can tell from the pictures this boat looks brand new. There was no expense spared to make this boat the way I wanted it. The hull is a 1999 but now shines better than it did new. The motor is a 2006 Yamaha 225 and has about 650 hours on it. Everything was replaced on this boat at the time of refit. The factory polling platform was redesigned and totally replaced by my friends at Quality T Tops in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The boat was completely re-wired and is truly bullet proof now. As the pictures show the refit shop customized the console to allow a flush mounted GPS that also doubles as the gauges. After enjoying this boat for the last 8 months it is now time to move on to my next project. My family has outgrown bay boats and we are moving up to a 36 foot center console (Jupiter). This could quite possibly be the biggest mistake of my life but as you all know we all have a boat that we sell and then regret for the rest of our natural existence; this will be mine. I labored over every single detail of this boat, I have spent more money on this vessel than I will ever admit on a public forum. Below is a list of what was replaced new at the time of refit. - Every wire and switch, including the panel - Raymarine 7 inch touch screen Hybrid touch GPS and Transducer - Power pole with remote, 8 foot -Yamaha binnacle and cables -Polling platform (Quality T Tops) - Rub rail and insert -Two Optima Blue tops -Blue sea circuit breaker and battery switch - All connections high and dry in custom box inside console -Clarion head unit with usb port and JL marine speakers -Yamaha engine and key wiring harness -LED naviagation and anchor lights -Bilge pump -All hatches and lids were sprayed by LineX of Sarasota to match non skid - A truly bullet proof coating -Minn Kota RT 80/ST/ I Pilot with remote (never installed, brand new) -Dual Pro - Sportsman Series - Tri Pro three bank charger -Custom Sunbrella console cover I have decided to price this boat at $29k to forum members. If anyone has ever had a refit like this done before you know how quickly the expenses can add up. At that price I will be losing a significant amount of money on this project. This boat is currently on my lift in Anna Maria Island and can be wet tested at any time. You would have to get MBC to build you a new one to find a nicer MA21. I will be listing the boat here first.
  16. This boat has been little used, garage kept (will store in 18' garage - has swing tongue) and is in excellent condition and very clean. 18. ***PRICE REDUCED*** After much deliberation I have decided to part ways with this unique fishing machine. I have not had the time to use her like I used to so I figured I’d see if there’s anyone in the market. If you know your boats you know the rarity of a 21 Master Angler... couple that with a low hour 4-stroke, custom aluminum trailer, and custom tower and you have a truly one of a kind platform to chase Tarpon on the beach or beat the bushes for Redfish. 2003 Maverick 21 Master Angler 2007 Yamaha 225F w/ 500 hours 2012 Owens and Sons Aluminum Trailer Custom made tower by Quality T-Tops 3 custom plumped live-wells all running on Rule 1100’s Waterproof AM/FM/Aux Radio with 4 speakers Plenty of storage Gell cell deep cycle batteries with dual battery switch Garmin color GPS/Bottom machine with dual-frequency transducer Locking built in rod storage 4-blade stainless steel prop Lenco trim tabs Sea-Star hydraulic steering Rule Mate 1100 GPH automatic bilge pump Brand new upholstery The motor only has 500 hours on it and has been meticulously maintained! Just had it in the shop and have a full diagnostic report to show. 62% of the hours have been below 1,000 RPM... she has been babied! The trailer is a custom aluminum slide-on made by Owens and Sons out of St. Petersburg. It has heavy duty i-beams, tandem torsion axels, and alloy wheels with spare tire mount. I had the axles LineX’d before they were installed to prevent them from rusting! These trailers are custom made to order and top of the line quality! The boat has spent it’s life in Tampa Bay. It was custom ordered from Maverick with no poling platform and an unrigged center console. It was then fitted with a custom made half tower from Quality T-Tops. All three live-wells have been custom rigged with Rule 1100’s, new plumbing, upgraded strainers, modified overflows, and improved inflows for a total of 110 gallons of live-wells! The sea chest has been upgraded to include the stainless steel pick-up grate. The rear access hatch was upgraded to allow much easier access to the bilge than factory. She is 100% turn-key and ready to be fished! Everything is fully functional: all the lights and pumps work. Will throw in all required safety gear so you’re ready to go! She could be yours for $35,000 $30,000 Located in Tampa FL. Call or text Kevin 813-951-7070 Title in hand. Evenings are the best time to call. If I don’t answer, leave a voicemail and I’ll be sure to call you back ASAP

Needs a wax / detail, one live well pump doesn’t work, replaces the fuel tank and wiring three years ago, replaced the 24 volt trolling motor last year. $2,000 worth of trailer work two years ago. Powder coated poling platform brackets. New powerpole motor. A classic fishing machine. Fished it last weekend. $14,500 reduced to $12,500. Serious inquiries only please. 850-524-2four24 *sorry about the configuration of the photos.
  20. $15,000 Clean boat, title in hand. 21’ Maverick Master Angler. 98 225 Vmax Yamaha. Lowrance hook 7 GPS plotter depth finder. Compression is good. Tandem trailer with tortion axles. Boat has been sitting in the lift for years not used. Located in Palm Beach County 423-742-1922
  21. Looking for a clean low hours 17HPX-V w/ a 90 or 115 Yamaha or Suzuki (4 Stroke). Year isn't much of a consideration, as long as its clean. Budget is $25-$30k.
  22. Well, it's time. I've put too much money into this to finish it, so I am going to sell it at a price that allows the new owner to complete the project under the value of the boat. Here's what you get: Year 2000, 18.5 Maverick Master Angler Flats boat with year 2000 Yamaha 150 (OX66) 2 stroke engine ~500 hrs. Boat hull will require work to finish a repair – see details below. $8,000.00 Motor: Motor is in excellent shape and runs extremely well. Starts up every time, and I recently replaced the remote oil tank/pump assembly. If you know the reputation of an OX66, you know it’s a good motor with many, many years left in it. Top speed was 50-54 MPH depending on load. Hull: Boat hull will require work to finalize a stringer repair. A year ago, I discovered that the boat’s port stringer had become de-laminated at the stern, causing the hull to flex and a small crack to form on port, stern strake. We had the rear deck removed, both stringers ground down (precautionary on the starboard side), and then extended and reinforced the stringers by tying them into the transom. As of today, the rear deck needs to be re-attached, and the small crack in the hull needs to be repaired now that the stringers have been addressed. Basically, you are putting the boat back together with the core issue fully resolved. The rear deck can be removed for you to fully inspect the work that has been done. Aside from the rear deck being detached, the rest of the hull is in good condition, with very few scratches and the gel coat is in overall very good shape. If you are not familiar with this hull, do a little research on it. This is a legendary hull for its ability to handle chop while running shallow, and for it smooth, dry ride and only comparable to an Egret. It is worth the fix. Trailer: Single axle trailer is in very good condition, bunks are in great shape, springs were replaced last year, new LED tail lights. Needs a new jack, but the current one works. Equipment: New throttle and shifter cables have been installed, and new pumps (bilge and livewells) and plumbing have been purchased for the boat. The boat has hydraulic steering, a three bank onboard charger, 2 trolling motor batteries and 1 house battery. The boat includes the poling platform and push pole. I have a Minn Kota 80# thrust Ipilot and Lowrance HDS 7 with side scan that are NOT included in this sales price, but can be purchased with the boat if desired. I've been monitoring the actual sales prices for Master Anglers through the sellers on this forum. This model boat for this year and power typically sell in the 15-20K range, so at this price you have plenty of room to complete the work. I’ve simply run out of money to complete the project the way I want to, and it is too good a boat to cut corners on. Additional information and pictures are available on request. The pics below are not in order, but the ones showing the rear deck in place are the most current (today). The deck is not attached, and you can see the repaired stringers (pained white) in the 3rd and 4th pics. There are several threads detailing the work that has been done on this boat to date, and I've got pics of the boat before, during, and in its current state. I could probably get more by parting it out, but I'm really not interested in going that route, unless someone wants to buy the hull and trailer first.
  23. I haven't laid eyes on this one, but I've spoken to the owner. Seems like a good guy and the boat seems to be in really good condition. Given where I am with mine, it's probably just a little pre-mature for me to pull the trigger on. Hopefully someone else can benefit from it. https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/boa/d/2003-maverick-18-master-angler/6752972407.html

  25. Me: now a Highly concerned owner of a 2007 2200V pathfinder. friend: Owns a 2002 Hewes bonefisher That began to show some floor cracking along the gunnel wall ( believed it was just the typical stress cracks taking its toll on the old boat) but he began to take on water and the bilge would not stop ! This guy is a full-time respected permit fishermen who takes pride in his boat and maintenanc. when he got a chance to evaluate his boat he noticed a crack in the outter bottom front portion of his hull. He took it to a reputable fiberglass shop that determined that cutting the floor would be the appropriate step to making a full and complete repair but, what he found was highly concerning. It was noted that a single stringer that was in place was not fiberglassed to the hull, but rather helled down with a form of an Apoxy glue on an approx 2 1/2 inch flange around the stringer. Also there was NO foam in the stringer whatsoever. Not to mention that the boat wiring was not in conduit and was simply press between the top And hau not to mention that the boat wiring was not in conduit and was simply pressed between the top And hull. So the question or concern I am posing to all members is has anybody ever experienced this type of craftsmanship from Maverick boat builders. Was this just a fluke? Was this a shortcut? Either way this boat should’ve never of been passed through inspection. My friend his son and any other guest he took on this boat could’ve been in Real jeopardy ! Back to me: As I noticed hairline gelcoat cracking along my back portion of my lower floor just before the rear decking (by the rear drains which To me is a design issue) as my boat holds deck water. I would hate to find out that I’m in the same position with my reputable build such as the Pathfinder . Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance. In pic : you will see the floor removed and the stringer. if you look closely you’ll see how it is not attached whatsoever .
