    92 Redfisher Steering

I'm just about finished with my 92 redfisher 18. New fuel tank, wiring, plumbing, tabs, jack plate, electronics, hinges, paint, and rub rail. Waiting on a Suzuki 115 to arrive. As mentioned earlier the old motor was mounted about 4 inches above the transom so the steering cyl. cleared the too narrow splash well. Towed the boat to the dealer today and discovered that a 25 inch lower unit put the prop about an inch too low at the lowest jack plate height. It can be raised a little for perfect running height and still has 5 inches more height adjustment for clearance when motor is tilted forward.

How did the boat perform with the motor up that high?

Bay Star system is too wide for the splash well.

    92 Redfisher Steering

It is an 18 foot. I bought it with a bad engine that did not run. I have not had it in the water. Right now I'm replacing all wiring, engine, gas tank, and all plumbing. Looks like the jack plate was installed with the original engine to make room for the steering.

    92 Redfisher Steering

I am installing a new Suzuki 115 on my 1992 Redfisher. The splash well is narrower than Sea Star specs. I am afraid the steering will hit the sides of the splash well when tilted. The original motor was mounted about four inches above the transom on a fixed jack plate. I'm guessing that was done to give the cylinder clearance. Any advice about what to do? Maybe go with a 25 inch lower unit to make up for raising the motor on the jack plate.

    Resealing cockpit drains RF18 Lappy

I will, but it will be a while. First project is to pull the entire cap for new fuel tank, wiring, plumbing, inner hull paint, and additional flotation. I have already ordered the tubes and tool. I will install them for the engine well also. The quality is really nice. Just a little 3m behind the flanges and they should never need any more attention.

I am replacing mine with Moeller tubes from Jamestown Distributors. The tubes are 1 inch brass with a flange on one end. They sell a flange tool to put a flange on the other end after it is installed.

Sea Cocks on 03 RF 18

A below water line thru hull always needs a shut off valve. If not, hose breaks and you sink.

Anyone have a source for a new 1992 Redfisher fuel tank? Mine is not out yet but I would like to have one made now.

I am replacing the engine on my 1992 Redfisher. I would like to use a 115 Yamaha sho. I have concerns that I will not have clearance to remove the engine cowl under the poling platform. Anybody have one of these engines on an older Redfisher?

I just bought a 1992 Redfisher. It has the original 130 hp yamaha v4 motor. It has just enough clearance under the transom mounted poling platform to remove the engine cover. I would like to replace it with a new 115 hp motor. Any suggestions on a motor that will fit. Also, how do you access the nuts on the inside of the boat that hold the polling platform to the stern?
