2000 MA Repair Thread - Stringer issue
whichwaysup replied to topic's Shallowminded6 in General Forum
Hope you get out there and get to slime the decks. That is a long time. I am right there with you in the time frame of being dry, it is really tough. Will be worth it in the end. -
Transom/splashwell alluminum angle cap replacement

Is that your shop Outlaw? Know you do metal work but not sure of your shop name. -
Have to sell my Bonefisher - how much should I ask?

If the trailer repairs are a minor cost, might be worth fixing. Keeps from having a repair list prior to use. Will help you get the dollar amount up since it will be more convenient. (My opinion) -

Hard to tell from just one pic. That is a pretty sought after hull and a good motor. My first thought was more along 15k for one in better than average shape. -
Transom/splashwell alluminum angle cap replacement
Shallowminded6 replied to topic's Shallowminded6 in General Forum
The factory one wraps up the sides a little bit and is pretty thin. I live close to the factory, might ride down there and see what they say. Will let you know what I come up with. Hopefully the MHP brain trust has some suggestions. I have a little time as I am working on either replacing or rebuilding my engine currently. -
Has anyone replaced the angle aluminum that goes on the top of the splash well/transom? Any ideas on what to use or replace it with? I am referencing the piece in the pic that has the paint flaked off and the corroded alluminum shows thru. It has gotten progressively worse and I am planing on replacing as it looks like it is past repainting.

How much are you asking for the boat? Looks to be in great shape.
-
That was a good idea to keep from cutting the deck. Any water pics? How does it sit with the weight back there?
-
I had a good drip from my sea strainer and from my livewell pump housing(small crack). Both at different times. But caused similar issues. Could try checking those as well.

1994 Hewes Bayfisher 18’ w/ 2018 Suzuki 115

Where did you get your platform? -
Thank you guys for the responses. I appreciate all the opinions. I def get both sides of the debate, I have been battling it daily. Nicecast, how long ago did you get your rebuild done? Hope you guys are unnecessarily ready for this storm.

Wanaflatsfish, It all depends on what it needs. As little as $1,700 and could be as high as $4,000 if it was really extensive. Was told most likely closer to The $2500 area depending on condition of the crank shaft etc. Then will have to reinstall powerhead and most likely get the carbs done. So that would be additional.

I posted earlier about 140 vs 150 Suzukis. I still have not pulled the trigger on anything yet. I am still toying with the idea of rebuilding the engine as the block seems to be in servicable condition (2000 Yamaha 150 V-max Carbed). Has anyone had a power head rebuilt by Outboard Clinic in Palm City, or anyone else they would recommend or advise against?
-
Is that the 18’ or 16’?
-
What kind of speed are you getting from that? That seems close to the same hull as mine. Is the hole shot good?
-
FLDXT what kind of numbers did you see on your 17? I was hitting mid 50’s with the V-max. But just cruised about 35-40 most of the time.
-
Glad it got fixed. I had the same set up and I think the same leak from mine. I replaced the pump and housing and it fixed it. Did you have a seacock? Or did you replumb?
-
Does anyone have any experience with Suzuki 140/150 on a Hewes Redfisher 18, Light tackle, or a similar hull (pathfinder/Maverick or any boat somewhat of that size). Any praises/complaints about either HP? I am debating about either having my engine rebuilt or repowering. I currently have a 2000 18’ Hewes Light tackle with a 150 Yamaha V-max.

Hard to tell, but is it your livewell pump housing? I was mixed up from intial post. Thought was exterior of the boat.

Try posting on THT. There is a couple dealers (Outboard specialties), (international marine) that frequent there and usually give good advice to people who post. Im sure they could answer if you come up empty here.
