Beach Activity?

Recommended Posts

Got a beach house for a week on Ft. Meyers beach next week, not any room to keep the boat there so am just bringing some gear to beach fish.

Any Snook roaming the beaches there?  If so what would you suggest for artificials, jig with gulp, topwater if calm?

My neighbor just got back from Ft Meyers and said he was fishing from some bridge over their. He said people were killing the pompano with small jigs, he got pompano and some mackerel and somebody caught a huge Cobia as well. He said fishing was on fire this past holiday weekend over there.

Thanks for the info, I forgot about bridges being an option too.  Got a buddy with a boat there and may be able to get out on it as well if he's not tied up with work and kids.

We live on the Beach towards the south end. The snook have been on the beach for the last week or so. When fishing artificials I've had my best luck with Storm shad swim baits. Silver mullet and white seem to do the trick. You can't beat live greenbacks though if you really want to hook up. I would say work the south end of the island starting from the Outrigger resort and heading south. The area  just south of the pilings has been known to produce.

We are more to the north of you beachbuggy, but found some here.  My buddy got one around 26" on a doa white cal jig, and I had one come un-buttoned this morning on a mirrodine.
