Transom Mount Transducer placement ‘09 2200XL

Hello all. I have had it with the Lowrance 28C chart plotter/ fishfinder that came on my 2200 XL. It’s hard to read, convoluted to use and doesn’t read the depth well at speed. I bought a new Garmin Echomap Plus 94SV with a CV51M-TM transducer.  I had considered buying a tilted element through hull transducer but the GPS store convinced me that this transom mount functions really well. Attached is a picture of where my Lowrance transducer is located. Is this the best place for the new transducer on the XL version of the 2200?

I think you will find the best transducer performance will be mounting the transducer next to the drain plug and mounting the side scan transducer where your current transducer is mounted.
