eFlat
I have an 8' Powerpole blade ready to install on my MA 18.5. Guess I have two options for the install; get a bracket from Powerpole for the Atlas jackplate, or through hull to the transom. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to either of these methods I should take into consideration? Greatly appreciate the input
Nag Juice
I looked at getting one mounted last summer and I would only do it with the bracket. It’s less holes in the transom.
eFlat
Thanks Nag. Less holes the better. Wasn't sure there was any benefit to through hull vs bracket.
hurricane
Bracket. PK-M-5-6-(S or P)-(BK or WT) S for Starboard P for Port and BK for Black or WT for White.
F1sh0n
If I were to do it I would use a bracket. Why put more holes in the transom? Also you would likely put holes in the transom for the tubing as well.

It does require removing the engine from the transom....I installed two on my MA17 and it's no big deal to drill 4 holes and connect....you just have to cut a small access hole in the liner and then re-seal it with some PVC board.... Properly done, you should not have any water intrusion....use copious amounts of sealant in the holes and around the edges.... should be easy peasy then......
