Ron in Atlanta
This has been an issue for some time but does not yet effect operation, just cosmetic. Here is the rigging tube, does it look too long to you? When tilted up it kinks. You guys with 2200 TRS's, when you get a chance, could you take similar photos of your set up so I can compare. I don't want to shorten it too much and cause other issues. Thank you.
HoneyB
It looks like if you turn your motor all the way to the side your rigging tube would be about the right length. Mine is set back on a bracket so it would be difficult to compare . I will look at it when I get the chance and post up a picture
Bamaskeet
If you turn your engine all the way to the left extending the rigging tube before you tilt your motor up, does this solve your issue?
HoneyB
I snapped a picture of mine but as I suspected being on a setback I’m not going to be much help. I think you have to get your picture with the Motor turn hard away before you can determine the length. my problem is if I tilt my motor with the jack plate down my motor gets on the transom. So I guess we all have our little issues.
SCFD rtrd.
Hard to tell from the pics, but the rigging tube might me striking the steering hoses, causing it to bent abruptly when tilted.
bkh
Same boat but with F150 and mine seems to be ever so slightly shorter than yours. It comes very close to kinking but not quite but is very close.
bernieNC
Maybe your tube is “jack plate length”???

Now if I can only get someone to replace it. I'll try Ray at MBC again, we offered to do the work there but Ft Pierce is only 600 miles from here. Local dealer doesn't have a clue. Which is why I purchased the boat in Stuart, FL (650 miles).
HoneyB
Lol!! Pull the cables back and cut the tube. If your local guy can’t do that, does he know what a plug is for on a boat.
Wanaflatsfish
If it's not affecting anything related to performance or steering...why fiddle with it? DC

DC Good question, the, "if it ain't broke, don't mess with it" philosophy. Two things. Out a month ago, I had trimmed up the motor (around 4 bars on the trim-o-meter) and the motor started to shake, like it had weeds on the prop. I lowered the trim, shaking stopped, returned to 4 bars, the shake resumed. Thought the fuel hose might have been kinked when trimmed up. Plus, you know how anal I am about the boat, the kinked rigging tube just looks bad.
