Ignition Switch Replacement

Recommended Posts

Has anyone out there replaced the ignition switch on their Yamaha? I have noticed some black goo coming off the switch housing. I looked at replacement switched and it looks a bit complicated, considering the small space in which to work. Anyone?

Thanks!

Brian

You might consider leaving the wires attached to the existing switch until you get the new one. At that point, unplug the wires from the old switch and plug them into the new switch one at a time. I find it helps "demystify" what all those wire are.

The goo is just the little rubber piece that covers the key hole.  it's replaceable itself if you can clean off the old.

Yep, DO NOT  USE WD40 !!!

IT'S WHY YOU HAVE GOO...
