hurricane
Over the past 2 months, I think I've only fished twice. Both those times my normal spots didn't produce, Im sure all the brown bay water has something to do with it. I need to regroup and find new waters, I plan to fish at least 2 days this weekend (weather permitting) hoping to find some fish. So I am asking how you guys are doing and what areas you are finding fish? If you would like to share some bay info, not looking for your secret spots, just general area info is fine. Thanks

linesider 159
Fishing has been very hot by me. The usual areas. Lots and lots of smaller redfish mixed in and very willing on artificial.
VsteveV
Ive had the same success as linesider in my neck of the woods. Reds have been on the smaller side, but plentiful. Snook have been around 22" with an occasional 26" and trout mixed in. All on arti's.

Be careful, one of these mornings you'll find me asleep in my truck waiting for you at the ramp! 10 hour drive and a catnap, I should be good for 3 hours of fishing before I die! I can tell you, don't bother looking for me till after the winter. This FLA boy doesn't do cold very well!
linesider 159
Don't be afraid to get out and wade this time of year. Fish are pushing very shallow to catch the sun
hurricane
I love wade fishing, its by far the best way to learn the hidden subtleties of an area, and be super stealth about it. Thanks for the reminder, I will be packing my waders and boots.

Fish are pushing very shallow to catch the sun Absolutely! I grew up wade fishing in and around Fort Desoto Park. My dad took me all the time and we used to catch so many reds there and tons of snook at Blind Pass at night. Nothing like being waste deep before the sun comes up and watching nature waking up on the water!
linesider 159
Fort Desoto is great for wading on negative lows. I'm not about to go waste deep though!! I put my Louisiana platform on the front deck yesterday and I could see redfish a mile away with this clear water
hurricane
Clear water in UTB? My last trip out, the south shore still had a tint to it.
linesider 159
Yes. Very clear and will only get better as it gets colder. Fort Desoto was clear as well but that's pretty common

Caught Friday after I tried to cancel the guys dream trip. Specialized welder from Texas. His request for the trip was to catch a snook. They don't have them there. Second bait in the water and the drag was screaming and he caught the one in the pic. We caught 6 more snooklets and 5 nice trout. Did not get another bite for 3 hours after the front passed. The weather sucked, and I said I tried to warn you last night before the trip. He told me you don't understand snook and the weather. "I'm from Texas and don't care what your snook think." You produced my bucket list fish and I came here to get one and did. This fella cracked me up. He was ready to pay me and go to the dock after he caught his fish as he was driving the 15 hour run home that afternoon. He hung out for a bit and then called me last night at 9 pm and said he may stop at the casino on the way home. He felt lucky.
