Waterguy
I'm trying to figure out best combination for a 18 Hewes with 150hp. Can anyone tell me the what the benefits are of the standard Yamaha blades versus a higher performance Yamaha 3 or 4 blade. If I get the boat we are two 250lbers so that might figure into it as well. I always thought a three was for speed and a four was for hole shot but not sure on this boat and hp. Thanks!
MPFit
Well you need to know what YOU want; speed, holeshot, etc. in general yes 4 blade for hole shot and grip in turning. 3 blade for speed. With a 150 on an 18ft flats, a good 3 blade will be fine unless you WANT the benefits of the 4 blade. Yamaha has posted performance bulletins of their engines on the hewes. It's a good starting point as they post which prop they use.
