Have an '04 2200V Pathy which of course has a 20" transom. Have seen a few yamaha 225's used that would be a good fit as 200's seem to be unicorns for the most part. I have an F150 on her now and I am concerned about the extra 100lbs on the transom for longevity and th trim of the boat. 225hp is the max rating, but that was likely figured for a lighter 2 stroke during this time. Anyone have any insight on this particular setup? The motors I hav found are also 25" shafts, so I'll have to find a 20" gear box/spacer and replace and I'm not sure of the cost there.. any input appreciated.

I just hung a new, 2017 225 SHO, 20" shaft, on my 2007 2200V with an Atlas 6" jackplate.  My boat was rated for 250 hp.   I had a 2007 F150 on it, so the 225 SHO is only adding about 38 lbs of motor. I just dropped it in the water and put 10 hrs on it this weekend.  The motor is an absolute BEAST!!!

I am not sure where you are getting the 100 lbs difference, unless you are looking at an F225.   The 225 SHO weighs 505 lbs, and the older F150 is something like 467 lbs.

Not a great idea.  The F225 is too heavy for your hull.
