brett331
Hey guys, Looking for some pics or tips on doing some kinda Bimini or sunshade on a 2012 hpx 18. Doesn't have to be huge just something to pop up and eat lunch. Any pics or ideas appreciated.
hurricane
Just a lunch break maybe something like this, it's cheap. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Pro-Performance-Sports-Versa-Brella/2192377.uts?productVariantId=4417244&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04318239&rid=20&gclid=Cj0KEQiAqdLDBRDD-b2sv6-i6MsBEiQAkT3wAsdR9C_5nv5bC6dIjyngFiYL2LI_5Xy0cuw7KJ9XvbkaAoag8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds If you want shade while running, bimini is the best. HoneyB
I do not have a pic handy but I had a big umbrella that would fit nicely in a center rod holder. Mine was bright yellow with Corona logo. Came from the Mexican restaurant down the road LOL !!Tie a small rope on it because it does not take a lot of wind to lift it up. hurricane
Thats good to know, I have been thinking about getting one for myself. Was thinking the same thing as brett331, be nice to have a bit a shade for a little break sometimes. I don't live bait often, but when I do sitting in the shade waiting for a bite would be nice. Capt. Troy
I use a big umbrella. Stick it in the console rod holder and have a bungee to secure. I shimmed the pole by wrapping it with duct tape so it fits the rod holder real snug. The nice thing is it fits in the rod locker on my boat. lurem
Couple of options... not windy, you can put up a umbrella. These stow away into the rod holders when not in use. I know, I know, pretty colors!! hahaha
justfish
Google Tucci (I believe) they make some very nice shades that are not permanent. I've done the unbrealla in rod holder but i think there are better options now a days.
JEM
Check out Hydra Shade. They look pretty nice! I have no experience with these umbrellas, however.
Davej
The umbrella works good, but you cant run with it up. I did a lot of brainstorming, and with some help from my canvas guy and a machine shop, came up with the one you see in the pictures. Cost me a total of $200, and rolls up nicely, and fits in the under gunnel rod holders. No hole drilled in the boat either. Keeps the wife and dog out of the sun, and gives me a shady spot to to take a break if needed.
KeeKee Run
Best money I ever spent on the boat. Folds down inside the cockpit and stows against the front bulkhead.
mdemott
Have Hydra Shade for a couple of years. Fits in rod holder on console and gunnel. Lots of adjustments. Carry it to the beach with the included snd spike to provide shade for the granddaughters.

geeviam
We've been doing the "big beach umbrella in the console rod holder" thing for a few years now, and it has worked well. Then this past Summer, we enjoyed some relaxing days on the water aboard a pontoon boat with a Bimini top. For me, it comes down to one important thing. You need shade under way. I will be installing a Bimini Top on the Redfisher this Spring. A sturdy one that I can leave up and cool off with at 30+ mph in Mid-July.
HoneyB
yep those the blue one was like mine but mine are yellow with blue writing. biggest thing is to find one with a bigger diameter pole. those will fit very nice in a rod holder
