Dredgetrash
Anybody have any ideas why it burps back out of the fill if you don't fill it very very slow? The vent is clear because it comes out of the vent when full. It takes forever to fill. Thanks, Jackson
Lap it Up
Because it comes out of the vent doesn't mean the vent is empty. It may just push some out as more tries to enter the vent. Clear the vent with dry compressed air and see how it fills. Also take a look in the front hatch, is your vent line looped?
Dredgetrash
I will try the air. No the vent line is a straight shot to the tank from the vent. I figured since I could pick the line up and "walk" any gas in the line back into the tank (I hope that made sense) that the line was free. Lap it Up
You don't want a loop like a trap on a sink (loop downward). An upward loop is okay.
Adolph
My lt20 has kind of the same issue ive had mechanics look at it they all say everything is fine and that the fuel line runs a long run to get to the tank and that's what is causing the issue i use a funnel to fill and find it helps
nairb
I had the same issue. I replaced the fuel tank vent, the screen on the vent was corroded and clogged to the point very little air flow was allowed. After replacing the vent I was able to take fuel just fine. A bonus of this I installed a flush mount fuel vent which looks cleaner and does not get the spray of the old vent! Good Luck!
Im chumming
MY BOAT WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS HAVING TROUBLE SUCKING GAS. WE CHANGED THE L FITTING FROM THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK, THE ORIGINAL ONE HAS A SAFETY VALVE WHICH APPARENTLY TENDS TO GET STUCK AND KEEP THE GAS FROM MOVING THROUGH. WE CHANGED MINE TO A FITTING WITHOUT THE SAFETY, AND VIOLA NO MORE GAS ISSUE.
Dredgetrash
Forgot to update this. Found the vent screen was corroded on the inside. Cleaned it in muratic acid and now she takes fuel like a champ. Thanks for the help. Jackson
johnd
Thanks for posting. My 92 takes fuel very slowly, so next time on the trailer I'll look at the screen.
