OldestCityLocal
Where does everyone mount there cooler on the front deck. Mine is going to be over my big hatch not sure if I want to mount it or see if it slides. Looking forward to using it as a casting platform. triplec
Old City, I use Kennedy bases and the Yeti 1" straps. Kennedy seems to have a bit lower profile than the Yeti system. I use their threaded base and T bolt set up. Mine has Sea Dek so it doesn't slip but have friends who has his same way but no Sea Dek and the rubber feet hold it solid. OldestCityLocal
Thanks for the info. And beautiful picture. Love your seadek by the way.
fishbum321
I had just set mine in the front deck and put it back in the cockpit for long runs. but I have an HPX and didn not want to attack anything to the thin deck. I have since added a casting platform I have not yet used.. but you need to consider how often you will use without cooler and if the mounting equipment will get in you way. I am almost 100% fly and clean deck is number 1 to me. just my 2 cents.
whichwaysup
Just keep in mind, if you DON'T fasten it, that cooler top is wider than the bottom. The wrong movement with the wrong weight distribution can cause it to "tumble" under you. That's gonna be bad no matter how you land! Don't ask me how I know. . . fsusteve
I have a yeti strapped to the front deck using the yeti straps, never an issue, I tried it without but doesn't take much chop to make it move.
fin-addict
rtic in cockpit while running, on deck, no tie downs while fishing, no problems.
OldestCityLocal
Appreciate everyone's input. Going to mount the straps. I got K2 straps from amazon. They look like yeti straps. Prolly will only use straps for long trips or offshore. When you mount the straps u mount them into the hatch or in between the anchor hatch and big hatch? fsusteve
I went into the big hatch, centered, gave me room to access the anchor locker and use as a seat while using the trolling motor, I rarely use that hatch anyways, the 21's have gobs of storage
OldestCityLocal
Good deal thanks. That's were I have it now. That's one of the reasons I love my boat I have more storage space than I'll ever need.
MPFit
http://www.kennedytiedown.com/components/threaded-deck-bolt 2 of these with the triangle strap. When you remove the straps and the triangle, you're left with two small rounded screw heads on the deck. No big deal.
flyfishinglife
Anybody have an issue with how much your view is blocked by the cooler when you're running?
fsusteve
not so much when running but slow zones it's a tiny bit of inconvienece
Flireman
I have a Master Angler 17 and my Yeti 50 fits perfectly in cockpit between the front of the console and the front bulk head. Almost like it was made exactly to fit there. If I want to use it as a front deck platform I just move it there to fish. Always seems very stable when I fish off of it. Spencer Bass
I also want to put a Yeti on my 18 HPX. Not sure why everything is a challenge. And...I am not sure who’s website is worse, Yeti’s or MBG’ s. I think I want a 35 gallon Yet, SeaDeck pad, straps ( should I use the Yeti straps?) and I think the feet that raise the cooler off the deck. Does this sound about right? jason p
I’ve run a 35 Yeti in front of the console of an HPX for years, no straps, never moves.
