Dolphin watch boats on the starboard side going out, Savanah River South Channel to port. When I work with Savanah State University Dolphin Lab photographing our wild dolphins, I love it when we survey that area, lot's of "subjects", e.g.... Right here, I must point out that the university's research vessel (a 22 foot Whaler) and skipper are permitted by NOAA to get close to marine mammals AND these were taken with a long telephoto lens. It is very illegal to get closer than 100 meters to these animals without a permit and the knowledge that goes with it. Here is a scene we encountered during one survey... Feeding or otherwise interacting with these animals is of great danger to them and unfortunately, most folks do not realize the danger or they would not do dumb stuff like this photo shows. Having photographed hundreds of dolphins, I've seen too much of this... That is not a shark bite! I'll see you out there!
fishmanjj
Very nice pics Ron..... I also see people out on North end of Tybee trying to feed the dolphin....the shrimp boats are cleaning by catch between tides there , so there tons of food in water for them. Here is another pic from this weekend in that area.

Having photographed hundreds of dolphins, I've seen too much of this... That is not a shark bite! I'll see you out there! Ron, I’ve seen several dead dolphins in Lazaretto Creek with prop gashes all the way down the dorsal side of their bodies. When I still lived on Wilmington Island, I would use the boat ramp at Lazaretto, and as we would idle out, the dolphins would come out of the water and lay on your gunwale and just stare at you, expecting a handout. This behavior required no action by anyone in the boat. The dolphins there are too accustomed to handouts in that area. When one of the big males pops out of the water and lays over the side of your boat, it will scare the CRAP out of you!!!!! Is Dr. Gillian still with the marine biology program at SSU? THE OUTLAW
It was very windy , but the bite was very good . Hard to believe the amount of fish that were eating on the outside , in that choppy , dirty water . All the cookie cutter puppy Reds are all now cookie cutter 20” fish . All the snooklets are in the 20’s as well . 🇺🇸🏴☠️

MuddyBottomBluz
This was Key Largo on the North passage through Largo Sound to the ocean and past what is left of the concrete barge the day after Thanksgiving. And the boat is back in Miami!!!
geeviam
Great shot! Used to pole my Dolphin 16 Super Skiff with a 70 Johnson (electric choke) on that flat. Caught my biggest bonefish (over 10 LBS) right there. Thanks for sharing the photos!
MuddyBottomBluz
Thanks for the Bonefish fishing tip Gee, I appreciate that. I know that a lot of forum members are familiar with the area. I also know that this was Tarpon Terry's backyard, he lived just around the corner. Glad you like the pic's and they brought back some good memories!
