Exactly!!! might have to use a light and mirror, but you should be able to see the reinforcement. It's glassed-in on the bottom of the cap. ofdphildo
I just installed a TM on my 99 LT 20. It had a plate. You could feel the raised area below the deck. I drilled and tapped mine and used 3M 4200.
16bayfisher
I have the same boat year and all. There's one on the left side of the bow for sure. Not sure about the right side. Stick your phone or a small bore camera in the front anchor hatch and you can see it glassed in there.
hurricane
I was able to see mine from the underside.
bigsnook35
I got lucky and just mounted a trolling motor puck yesterday and happened to have all 4 bolts fall within the plate. I didn't even look for it. Gotta love some good luck here and there.

RedfishRippn
If its outside and your in a humid arez look at the deck in the am at an angle and dew will form over the area with the plate. Mark with a pencil.

Candle
I have a 2004 16RF with a Minn Kota 80lb Co-Pilot. Mounted it on the right side with a quick release plate. 12 years and almost 700 hours on the Yammie and NO problems with the TM mounting! Don't worry about the plate!
