Smoak352
When I bought my boat it didn't have a poling platform. I don't do any poling, but I need a place to set my beer. Anyway, any tips on the install? It looks like I can through bolt most of the holes, but a few of them look like they will be going into the insulation or foam. Do I need to use washers? Special kind of stainless? Any insight will help. Thanks
mulligan
Quote If you are mounting in the original location you might find a glassed in backing plate that you can drill and tap. Quote Do I need to use washers? I would put some big washers at the very least. There is a lot of shaking going on back there. You have seen what a motor can do without washers! johnd
4200. Lots of 4200. None of mine, original, were thru bolted. SS lag bolts...ugh. If you can thru bolt do so, with backing plate! Or large washers to spread the stress. be sure the platform you chose allows your engine room to tilt and that you can remove cover (on the water) when you need to check something. Smoak352
Ok, I ordered it from Hewes, so I hope I can remove the cover!! And yes, I know how about not using washers, good point!! It looks like I can do 4 out of 4 bolts in the back and 2 of 4 for the front. Thanks!
