Found leak: how to fix?

johnd

Recommended Posts

1991 Redfisher (Lappy).

The live well (aft center, plumbed) is leaking into the bilge. The leak is 1) either where hose connects to plastic elbow drain at bottom. 2) where hose connects to thru hull. 3) the hose or 4) drain in well

Thoughts?

and one project leads to another :( It may be the elbow (that swivels) that leads to thru hull, or it may be the hose appears a bit short - and yeah, no leverage to pull out hose thru tiny round hatch.

fortunately not mission critical, so if opportunity presents I'll fish the boat.. but one of those annoying things I want fixed.

Fixed. Removed hose from well, installed new hose. Used a little dope on elbow threads to thru hull.

Put a plug in thru hull, filled well with water..no leaks.

No doubt something bigger than the pie hole would have made this easier.

Now, if I could get the base for thru hull ducer that is 5200'd to the hull out...thinking that was factory in 1991. It's lowest section of bilge & would like my builder pickup there...Always another project on a boat:)
