I think there are quite a few around. Most of them are refurbished in one way or another but you still can't miss those cl***ic Bob Hewes lines. I will fish my Bonefisher until she sinks and hopefully that day will be one in the Keys or, even better, at Andros. Here is a freshwater picture.

Cheers

i would be proud to own any of these boats on the 'vintage' forum so far. very nice boat, mack....is that graphic running the length of the boat an original designed and added later?

i really don't feel like mine would be cl***ified as 'cl***ic' or 'vintage' but it is a lapstrake model, which i have always loved the looks of.

Everything is origional except for the trolling motor and a few repaired items. I think the stripe was a standard item during the time. Check out this old picture I found of an 80s era Redfisher. It has basically the same stripe.

You have the same push pole as I do. That must have been the one you got with the boat. Nice to see that too.

I see you do not have the spray rails on your boat, how wet do you get in bad chop? Did your boat come with them? Or did you take them off latter? I still have mine on the boat I am on the verge of getting them off. But the other owner (my dad) says keep them on or we will get wet ... So it is just one more thing to worry about to keep up on the boat.

Thanks

West,

My boat never had the spray rails so I can't really say if they make a difference. I like the way my boat cuts through the chop now so I think you will be O.K. This past weekend we had gust to 20mph inshore which created rough conditions. My boat had no problem with it. The only time I take some spray is if I am heavly loaded down with two other persons and lots of gear.

Mack

Thanks for the reply. I have always had the spray rails. and as you might tell I would rather not have them but as it is I will keep them on for now. Thanks for the info though.

well, for pensacola bay fishing, back in the late 70s, it was great i bet....good for open, deep bays. and good for the varied shallow areas in the sound, etc.

it gets much much more shallow here in texas than i ever remember it getting in pensacola. miles and miles of flats. sometimes just a foot or two deep at most!

i can't wait to take the hewes back home for a long weekend, however!

I'm back!!!! I am now "Yakster" (previously known as Mack) After a few years up north killing the largemouth on the tidal Potomac River, my 1981 Hewes Bonefisher and I are back in South Florida. Good to be back in the salt. The enclosed picture shows my latest referb project - the interior decks, gunnals (carpet), cockpit, and power pole addition. The next phase will be the top deck then finally the hull, that is if I can convince myself not to fish for awhile.
