elliottd Report post Posted January 21, 2016 Yes, it will be the weekend before Memorial Day, May 20th and 21st. We'll be sending out more details later on but definitely mark those dates down in your calendar!
localangler Report post Posted January 21, 2016 Guess it's time to check the work schedule, this will hopefully be my first OT.
John U Report post Posted January 23, 2016 I am looking forward to my first tournament as well! Any recommendations on a place to stay? I was thinking of making it a long weekend.
localangler Report post Posted January 23, 2016 Where I'd stay would depend on the area you're going to fish and if you want to try and find a marina to keep the boat at. I normally fish south of Charleston out on the Edisto River but fishing has been slow for me with trying to learn that area. If you fish out of the harbor there's lots of places to fish either up the Wando or towards the ocean. If you have a general area then I might be able to suggest a hotel. I know the new dealer down here is West of the Ashley but I don't know if the festivities will be there or at another location.
John U Report post Posted January 23, 2016 thanks for the offer. I have never been boating in Charleston nor fishing for the that matter. I would prefer to leave the boat in the water for a couple days. I will see what they come up with and maybe I will reach out then.
localangler Report post Posted January 23, 2016 Ripley light marina sits on the Ashley River by California Dreaming (restaurant in case you're familiar with it) and it has a hotel right there but the hotel name escapes me right now. From there you could fish the Wando, harbor, the ICW or ocean. So many choices on fishing options
lrobalo Report post Posted January 24, 2016 In the past few years, Barrier Island Marine sponsored it and you could keep your boat in their storage yard, but they no longer sell MBC products and the new Pathfinder dealer doesn't look like they have a very big area to store a boat. I'm going to the boat show this Friday, so I will ask them about the tournament and see what their plans are. I'll report back.

localangler Report post Posted May 12, 2016 I hate that I'm going to miss this tournament, I hope everyone has a blast and enjoys the lowcountry. The extended forecast is looking humid, warm and a chance of afternoon showers, typical South Carolina summer day.
smilemaker Report post Posted May 17, 2016 Early forecast not looking good. Do we go rain/wind or shine or is there a rain date. Rain not a problem but wind at 15+ will take all enjoyment out of the day.
John U Report post Posted May 17, 2016 There seems to be quite a difference in the opinions on the weather. Weather Channel says 15 mph of wind. Marine forecast says 5-10 knots. Thats quite a difference. We are planning to come. Forecast seems to be improving by the day. Plus the worst case is we have a fun weekend in Charleston! smilemaker Report post Posted May 17, 2016 I will be there regardless just wondering about those traveling aways
bryson Report post Posted May 18, 2016 So far, the weather's still looking rough, but I'm still planning on fishing! I'm fine with the rain, but hoping it doesn't get electric... What's everyone else thinking about it? I hope it doesn't hurt the turnout. Looking forward to meeting some other owners!
16bayfisher Report post Posted May 18, 2016 I'm still planning on fishing. I hate that the weather will stink, but what can you do? I just wonder where the captains meeting will be at Ripley. Was it going to be an outdoor event or indoor? I'm not aware of an indoor facility there?
