2fastlx
I am thinking about getting the deck of my 21RF re-finished. Everything is sound, but between changing out trolling motor mounts, nicks and scratches, fading, ect. the deck could use some love. I dont know much about gl*** work, but I know my options are either paint or gelcoat. Any recommendations on one vs. the other?
fin-addict
after getting the gl*** work done, I would go with paint rather than re-gelcoat. lot less $$$$ and will look just as good and stand up just as well. jmo
2fastlx
Thanks. will the paint work over the factory non-skid pattern?
fin-addict
yes you can paint over non skid. have seen several boats painted and the non skid still showed through and did it's job but a little less noticeable. I would ***ume the same if gelcoated. best to ask an expert.
bigsnook35
I am in the process of refurbishing a LT20 and I will be getting line-x done on all of the surfaces and possibly the metal work as well.
linesider 159
You can have the nonskid ground down and respray all new nonskid and gelcoat/paint. It wont be cheap though, but the deck will look brand new
large marge
the best approach,in my experienced opinion: do the gl*** work - grind the diamond pattern out - prime it all in a good 2 part epoxy primer - roll is out in awlgrip - use griptex and it's done ! looks better than new and it's easy to clean,as well as durable... 2fastlx
Thanks Marge. What would you say a rough estimate would be on the price to do that on a 21 redfisher? As far as repair work there are only a few bolt holes to patch.
