flatwater
Last trip out my trolling motor was kicking on and off and I traced the issue back to a corroded connection on the quick connect. I went ahead and replaced that and resealed all the connections with heat shrink ect.. I plugged it in last night and now it will only run in reverse. When I turn the handle to forward nothing happens, but it kicks on and runs in reverse flawlessly. Here are the details. Trolling Motor: Older model Minn Kota Riptide 24v Quick connect used: [image]http://newcontent.westmarine.com/content/images/catalog/full/MINNK_MKR12_F.JPG[/image] Has anyone ever experienced this before? Capt. Troy
The bad news is that bad connections, shorts and improper voltage bring out the sensitivity in electronic components. I think your TM is headed to the shop.
SCFD rtrd.
Before you take it to the shop, cut the new connectors off and temporarily connect the wire from the battery straight to the TM wires. If that doesn't work, then off to the shop you go. I learned years ago; when your TM starts to act-up, stop everything immediately and find the problem. Theirs just too many electronic parts that can't tolerate low voltage/amps.
hurricane
I had one do that, had to replace the board. Its not that much maybe $100 and easy to replace.
harlieb3
Call these guys, they'll get you squared away. Board is about $100 or so. Easy fix. http://www.northlandmarine.com/MinnKotaQuickRef.htm
linesider 159
The power on and off like that in quick succession probably fried the board. Had the same thing happen to me
harlieb3
Low voltage or running in weeds will overheat and fry it. Same with the GPS board in the head. Low voltage will fry it also. They are a little more expensive but just as easy to change. GL
live to fish
Call Minn Kota, tell them what's going on. I know it's out of warranty but I'm sure they can tell you what's wrong with it.
