Most of the night I was actually in the water wearing every stich of clothing I had to avoid hypothermia. The mosquitos were that horrible. mdemott
No SAT phone. I fish in 4-5ft. of water. If I get stuck, I walk home.

Not me, too many things in the waters of everglades national park with teeth that are bigger than me. 😲
rubble
My new Standard Horizon HX890 arrived today and is programmed with MMSI. Is a nice little device with all the right gadgets to go with it: Belt Clip, Lanyard, DC power, AC Dock, Rechargable battery and a backup piece that can hold AAA batteries. The FM function is kind of cool. Need to study up on all of the things it can do GPS wise. Seems really powerful.

bkh
I have been kicking around getting a Garmin inreach for a while and just saw they announced a GPS map plus inreach. It is the Garmin 86sci and is a bit pricey at $650 but it is both a satellite communication text/tracking device plus a gps with blue chart. Not sure I can justify that kind of outlay but I have also been wanting a backup blue chart gps so I could see talking myself into this!
