    21 Master Angler

This is a one of a kind Maverick Master Angler. I will let the pictures do the talking on this post. Let me start off by giving everyone a little background on this boat. Shortly after buying my first MBC product 10 years ago I fell in love with the MA 21. I have owned 6 MBC boats (3 Pathfinders, 2 Hewes, and this MA). This has, by far, been my favorite and there is no doubt in my mind why this hull is so popular amongst the MBC community. I purchased this boat about 2 years ago and took it directly to the rebuild shop. All of the work was performed by one of the country's premier yacht builders. They have asked that I not share their name because this was a one-off deal and they will never refit a boat of this size again. If someone is a serious buyer I will then share that information. The vessel spent more than a year in the shop undergoing this refit. As you can tell from the pictures this boat looks brand new. There was no expense spared to make this boat the way I wanted it. The hull is a 1999 but now shines better than it did new. The motor is a 2006 Yamaha 225 and has about 650 hours on it. Everything was replaced on this boat at the time of refit. The factory polling platform was redesigned and totally replaced by my friends at Quality T Tops in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The boat was completely re-wired and is truly bullet proof now. As the pictures show the refit shop customized the console to allow a flush mounted GPS that also doubles as the gauges. After enjoying this boat for the last 8 months it is now time to move on to my next project. My family has outgrown bay boats and we are moving up to a 36 foot center console (Jupiter). This could quite possibly be the biggest mistake of my life but as you all know we all have a boat that we sell and then regret for the rest of our natural existence; this will be mine. I labored over every single detail of this boat, I have spent more money on this vessel than I will ever admit on a public forum. Below is a list of what was replaced new at the time of refit. - Every wire and switch, including the panel - Raymarine 7 inch touch screen Hybrid touch GPS and Transducer - Power pole with remote, 8 foot -Yamaha binnacle and cables -Polling platform (Quality T Tops) - Rub rail and insert -Two Optima Blue tops -Blue sea circuit breaker and battery switch - All connections high and dry in custom box inside console -Clarion head unit with usb port and JL marine speakers -Yamaha engine and key wiring harness -LED naviagation and anchor lights -Bilge pump -All hatches and lids were sprayed by LineX of Sarasota to match non skid - A truly bullet proof coating -Minn Kota RT 80/ST/ I Pilot with remote (never installed, brand new) -Dual Pro - Sportsman Series - Tri Pro three bank charger -Custom Sunbrella console cover I have decided to price this boat at $29k to forum members. If anyone has ever had a refit like this done before you know how quickly the expenses can add up. At that price I will be losing a significant amount of money on this project. This boat is currently on my lift in Anna Maria Island and can be wet tested at any time. You would have to get MBC to build you a new one to find a nicer MA21. I will be listing the boat here first.
  3. 2001 Hewes 18 Bonefisher Very Clean and in great condition. '01 was the last year they made the lappy model bonefisher, I believe... Original Deep Blue gelcoat in amazing shape. This thing is in perfect shape. -HDS 7 Gen 2 touch GPS chartplotter. -24V Motorguide Xi5 wireless trolling motor with GPS. 4. ***PRICE REDUCED*** After much deliberation I have decided to part ways with this unique fishing machine. I have not had the time to use her like I used to so I figured I’d see if there’s anyone in the market. If you know your boats you know the rarity of a 21 Master Angler... couple that with a low hour 4-stroke, custom aluminum trailer, and custom tower and you have a truly one of a kind platform to chase Tarpon on the beach or beat the bushes for Redfish. 2003 Maverick 21 Master Angler 2007 Yamaha 225F w/ 500 hours 2012 Owens and Sons Aluminum Trailer Custom made tower by Quality T-Tops 3 custom plumped live-wells all running on Rule 1100’s Waterproof AM/FM/Aux Radio with 4 speakers Plenty of storage Gell cell deep cycle batteries with dual battery switch Garmin color GPS/Bottom machine with dual-frequency transducer Locking built in rod storage 4-blade stainless steel prop Lenco trim tabs Sea-Star hydraulic steering Rule Mate 1100 GPH automatic bilge pump Brand new upholstery The motor only has 500 hours on it and has been meticulously maintained! Just had it in the shop and have a full diagnostic report to show. 62% of the hours have been below 1,000 RPM... she has been babied! The trailer is a custom aluminum slide-on made by Owens and Sons out of St. Petersburg. It has heavy duty i-beams, tandem torsion axels, and alloy wheels with spare tire mount. I had the axles LineX’d before they were installed to prevent them from rusting! These trailers are custom made to order and top of the line quality! The boat has spent it’s life in Tampa Bay. It was custom ordered from Maverick with no poling platform and an unrigged center console. It was then fitted with a custom made half tower from Quality T-Tops. All three live-wells have been custom rigged with Rule 1100’s, new plumbing, upgraded strainers, modified overflows, and improved inflows for a total of 110 gallons of live-wells! The sea chest has been upgraded to include the stainless steel pick-up grate. The rear access hatch was upgraded to allow much easier access to the bilge than factory. She is 100% turn-key and ready to be fished! Everything is fully functional: all the lights and pumps work. Will throw in all required safety gear so you’re ready to go! She could be yours for $35,000 $30,000 Located in Tampa FL. Call or text Kevin 813-951-7070 Title in hand. Evenings are the best time to call. If I don’t answer, leave a voicemail and I’ll be sure to call you back ASAP
  5. I am having issues with my power. All compoments are running off my crank battery. Has anyone added an extra battery to a 2000 21' MA? If so, any thoughts to the addition of a battery under the helm seat, space is very limited. Any help would be appreciated?

    2003 Maverick 18' Master Angler

Hi to all, Well finally had a moment to load some pics of my new project. Needs a lot of work but nothing that can't be done with time and nothing structural. Will be spending a lot of time sanding and buffing to turn this boat back into fighting lady yellow and oyster white. Seats are in ok condition but will likely get new ones. Have a new Humminbird and MinnKota motor for it already. Trailer is in great shape. I will do my best to post some pics as i go. Having a lot of trouble finding a poling platform for it as well. Will get one made i guess. I assume it would be best to them here is the same thread? Is that the norm? Thanks, Derek

Potential move and growing family are the only reason I'm contemplating this. I have a 5 and 2 year old and need something with a little more "containment". *Will update with more photos, these are just what I have on my phone and I wanted to get it posted before I went out of town. 1999 17 Master Angler 2004 Suzuki DF140 - just over 400 hours, PT 4 blade prop. Fulls service every 100 hrs or yearly, whatever comes first. Never had an issue, great motor, made me a Zuke believer. 2004 Rolls Axle single axle trailer. Best trailer I've ever owned. Full LED lighting, all wiring is triplex/duplex marine grade to a junction box with a common ground to the tow vehicle. No chasing bad grounds. Adhesive heat shrink, liquid electrical tape at all connections. Bearings replaced yearly, less than 500 miles on tires. If you ever chased lighting issues on a trailer, you can appreciate this, best thing I've ever done. Simrad NSS7 Evo 2 with totalscan transducer VHF SH GX1600 hard wired to DSCC on Simrad for GPS coordinates, flush mounted on console with cover New sending unit and fuel gauge 2018 New fuel lines and access panels 2018 6' Powerpole 42 Gallons gas tank 25 gallon livewell with recirc pump Release well SEASTAR hyd steering, new 1.7 helm 2015. Tons of storage Full set of cushions, I never use them Trim tabs Custom sissy bar for poling platform Custom switch panel 20' push pole, heavy as heck, never use it Full custom cover, black All new plumbing/pumps 2016 New black rope in rubrail, resealed 2015 MK 74 lbs TM, 2 Deka AGM batts with Dual Pro 2 bank charger. Batts are wired as backup for starting battery (Hobo) method. Dual Pro 2 bank, 10 amp charger. I take it off the boat when not charging 1 Deka AGM starting with Blueseas Battery Switch Full schematics of wiring Complete safety gear and extras will go with the boat. WOT full fuel, fishing gear and two people about 44 mph. I give up speed for the big stern lifting prop. Boat ships gas Boat does not show as a 19 year old hull. It has been well taken care of. Has signs of usual wear but nothing that wouldn't be expected for a 19 year old boat. I have caught everything from sails and dolphin to cobia and bonefish in this boat. I'm anal retentive with maintenance, especially since my kids go with me most times. I perform all service on the boat and will be glad to advise the new buyer to help them save some money. I removed the windshield off the console but still have it. I did some custom pipe work and coxcombing around the console. Only thing I wanted to upgrade that I haven't is moving the starting battery to the center console. The shelves built in the rear compartments on these were not designed for the hvy AGM batteries. This is hands down the best boat I've owned. Will eat up big water but still skinny enough to look for tailing reds. Still a little hesitant. Boat is in Crawfordville, FL, just south of Tallahassee. Feel free to PM or email me. Plenty of other pictures available. Ufbeef@yahoo.com (772) 201 1636 - initially a text will probably be better $17k obo
  9. Well, it's time. I've put too much money into this to finish it, so I am going to sell it at a price that allows the new owner to complete the project under the value of the boat. Here's what you get: Year 2000, 18.5 Maverick Master Angler Flats boat with year 2000 Yamaha 150 (OX66) 2 stroke engine ~500 hrs. Boat hull will require work to finish a repair – see details below. $8,000.00 Motor: Motor is in excellent shape and runs extremely well. Starts up every time, and I recently replaced the remote oil tank/pump assembly. If you know the reputation of an OX66, you know it’s a good motor with many, many years left in it. Top speed was 50-54 MPH depending on load. Hull: Boat hull will require work to finalize a stringer repair. A year ago, I discovered that the boat’s port stringer had become de-laminated at the stern, causing the hull to flex and a small crack to form on port, stern strake. We had the rear deck removed, both stringers ground down (precautionary on the starboard side), and then extended and reinforced the stringers by tying them into the transom. As of today, the rear deck needs to be re-attached, and the small crack in the hull needs to be repaired now that the stringers have been addressed. Basically, you are putting the boat back together with the core issue fully resolved. The rear deck can be removed for you to fully inspect the work that has been done. Aside from the rear deck being detached, the rest of the hull is in good condition, with very few scratches and the gel coat is in overall very good shape. If you are not familiar with this hull, do a little research on it. This is a legendary hull for its ability to handle chop while running shallow, and for it smooth, dry ride and only comparable to an Egret. It is worth the fix. Trailer: Single axle trailer is in very good condition, bunks are in great shape, springs were replaced last year, new LED tail lights. Needs a new jack, but the current one works. Equipment: New throttle and shifter cables have been installed, and new pumps (bilge and livewells) and plumbing have been purchased for the boat. The boat has hydraulic steering, a three bank onboard charger, 2 trolling motor batteries and 1 house battery. The boat includes the poling platform and push pole. I have a Minn Kota 80# thrust Ipilot and Lowrance HDS 7 with side scan that are NOT included in this sales price, but can be purchased with the boat if desired. I've been monitoring the actual sales prices for Master Anglers through the sellers on this forum. This model boat for this year and power typically sell in the 15-20K range, so at this price you have plenty of room to complete the work. I’ve simply run out of money to complete the project the way I want to, and it is too good a boat to cut corners on. Additional information and pictures are available on request. The pics below are not in order, but the ones showing the rear deck in place are the most current (today). The deck is not attached, and you can see the repaired stringers (pained white) in the 3rd and 4th pics. There are several threads detailing the work that has been done on this boat to date, and I've got pics of the boat before, during, and in its current state. I could probably get more by parting it out, but I'm really not interested in going that route, unless someone wants to buy the hull and trailer first.
  10. I haven't laid eyes on this one, but I've spoken to the owner. Seems like a good guy and the boat seems to be in really good condition. Given where I am with mine, it's probably just a little pre-mature for me to pull the trigger on. Hopefully someone else can benefit from it. https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/boa/d/2003-maverick-18-master-angler/6752972407.html
  11. Hey all - I may be selling my 2000 18 MA, which is currently in the process of going through a restoration. I've just crossed the "break even" point with this boat, and to finish the project will cost me about 10K more to do it right. If I go forward, I'll be 10K underwater with the boat, and 10K is a lot of money when you have 5 kids you need to put through college. I might decide to do it anyway, because I love the boat and if I bought another boat, I would be looking for exactly this same one. If I decide to sell it, I'll just go boatless for awhile. So, here's what you're looking at if you want to take this on: When I bought this boat 2 years ago, it was in nearly pristine condition. It had hardly been used at all. That fact hid a lurking issue of a manufacturing defect in the way that the port stringer was bonded to the hull in the stern. I used the boat 2-3 times a week for the first year and one day discovered a small, hairline crack running along a chine directly under the stringer. This crack penetrated the hull and allowed water to pass from inside the hull (I filled it up to test this) to the outside. It took very little time to realize that the cause was that the stringer had delaminated. Since that discovery, I've had work done to begin remediating the issue. I had the rear deck cut (just aft of the cockpit) and the entire deck removed to provide access. The area around the stringers was ground down, the stringers were extended to connect into the transom, and the entire area was reinforced. Drainage holes were provided to allow water to get from the area outside of the stringers into the bilge. The shop that did that work stopped making progress, so I eventually gave up on them and paid them for the work done so far. I've had another boat repair shop look over the work and they agreed that the work done was quality work and agreed with the plan to extend the stringers as we did them. As of right now, the rear deck has not been re-attached, so anyone who wants to take this on will have full view of the work done, and full access to the entire rear third of the hull from the inside. The exterior crack has not yet been addressed. Additionally, I have installed new throttle/shifter cables, have purchased new bilge and livewell pumps, and have purchased stainless steel through-hull fittings, all waiting to be installed. To finish the boat the way I want to (re-wire, VERY careful process to re-attach the rear deck, re-do plumbing, trim, and re-rig with most, if not all, new hardware, I'll be lucky to spend 10 grand. Based on what I have in the boat, and what I would expect the value to be once complete, that amount will put me about 10 grand underwater (pardon the pun). The boat is in excellent shape cosmetically. The gelcoat has very little oyster rash, and is in excellent shape. The fuel tank (poly) has been checked out and, by all accounts, there is no reason to replace it. The engine (year 2000, Yamaha OX66 150) is in phenomenal shape. It had about 400 hrs when I purchased it, and I have no idea how many hours I put on it in the first year I owned it. I haven't used the boat since January of last year. The boat would come with the following equipment (plus all the various parts) - 80# Thrust 24V Ipilot Trolling motor - Lowrance HDS 7 with side scan transducer - Pushpole (pretty basic version) - 3 tempress seats - Full, very much custom sumbrella cover (best cover fit I've ever seen) - Trailer (springs and lights replaced last year) I'll attach pics shortly, but you can find the restoration thread on this boat in the general section and see the work done to date, and I have pics of her in the Vintage Maverick photos section. Again, I'm not 100% certain I'll sell her, it is physically painful to even write this up, but if I do sell her, I will be asking for $10,000, which includes everything listed above. That puts the new owner right at the current value that these have been going for, with a boat that will have new wiring, and will be in very secure and certain structural shape for years to come. If you are interested in this, or know someone who is, PM me and we can talk through it further. I'm an honest guy and I'll make sure you know exactly what you are getting. I'm expecting the full estimate for the completion of the project late next week, and that will probably be the final deciding point on which direction I go. Pics and links below: Here are some pics of her: Here is the repair thread

    2001 Maverick Master Angler

$25,500. The boat is well cared for and is located in Charleston, South Carolina. We bought the boat about 6 years ago to fish locally with our boys. They are now off to school and the older boys are going to move up in size for the comfort and company of the older girls. My friend Eric and I have owned this together. He posted this yesterday on The Hull Truth and here is a link. He is partially retired and going to handle any information requests during the sale. The link to the post is below and his contact direct is shindigfishing@hotmail.com. I'll try to field questions here, but it would be best to click on the link, review the photos and email Eric directly to keep it all straight. Hopefully nobody buys it before October so we can fish in the MBC Southeastern Owners Tourney. We have fished it each year since it came to Charleston... What to do??

Hey guys, need everyones advise. Fish Chokoloskee mostly and like to make long runs, have an old hews stalker now and looking to upgrade. How does the 17 and 18 HPX V handle a chop on the outside? My other considerations are the hews redfisher, or a 17 or 18 MA. We fish 50% outside and 50% back country but are sick of getting beat when outside in any kind of chop. 90% trolling motor and 10% on the pole. Just not sure the HPX will handle the chop like we want. Thanks for your input

    2003 Maverick Master Angler 17'

2003 Maverick Master Angler 17' 2003 Yahama F150 - ~ 1000hrs Single Axle - Rolls Axle Trailer Please Note: Gauge says ~1650 hours - Gauges were reused from previous owner when the boat was repowered. The previous engine was a 2 Stroke and then repowered with the F150. Reason for Sale: Moving up North and no room in new location, need sell before moving. Otherwise I would not sell. Garage Kept last 4.5 Years -Cleaned and rinsed before put away every time. **Ask Nosy neighbors if you don’t believe me. Routine Service completed every 100 hours - again ask neighbors - Came to house - Recently had Engine VST cleaned with last 100 hour service. Overall- This boat is incredibly dry for it being on the smaller end it runs really shallow. Easily perform all sorts of fishing the last 4.5 years: Flats, Bass, you name it. I trailer this all over the state and will miss it. Features: New 55 lb Salt Water Xi5 MotorGuide Wireless Trolling Motor - new Battery and Charger (Room for 1 more battery) - Installed Mid February Electric Jack Plate 8 ft Power Pole with switch on console White Under Water lights Interior LED Running lights 2 Removable seats 2 Live wells - 1 was converted from storage to live well from Previous owner- 1 live well was enough for my use. Polk Audio speakers with tweeters w/ BlueTooth Head Unit inside center console 3 Batteries in total - 1 Trolling - 1 House(Sandbar) and 1 starter Outdoor Cover Included Yes, this is a 15 year old boat in great shape with that said, there are minor scratches, dings in a few areas of the boat. (Which does not impede the performance. Most are overlooked unless scrutinizing every inch). If you want to be that person, this may not be the boat for you. Most people are un-aware as they are wear and tear over 15 years. Most if not all of which were from the previous owner. Overall the boat is in Good shape and has been cared for and been a great ride. Email with Subject - Maverick if interested. I will get back to you as soon as possible. BCN09c@gmail.com 17,500 OBO
  19. Need to sell bc I’m looking at early retirement from the military due to medical reasons. Boat motor and trailer are 2006. Boat is turn key and ready to go. It’s a great riding boat and I’m hate to see it go. It’s finally like I want it. Figures.... -Ameritrail trailer with new hubs, new tires and new trailer lights -Yamaha F150 w 1050 hours -MK IPilot 80 with 60” shaft Lowrance HDS10 Fusion RA-70 with JL MX770s Custom Fabricated Removable Backrest Raw Water Washdown VHF Full Sunbrella Cover with separate console cover The pictures aren’t new but it’s been raining and pollen is everywhere. I’ll get some new ones up this week, but it looks the same. I get it. It’s BLUE. It’s easy on the eyes and get nothing but positive accolades in person. I got a quote to renon-skid the boat for $1500 if you’re interested. A gray SeaDek in a teak mold would be nice too. The blue never bothered me, I just called out of curiosity. I bought it for what it is, a 2006 center console 18 MA with a F150 and a Ameritrail. The boat is right and lives up to every expectation. $23k

  21. Has anyone removed an original fuel tank from a 92 18 Master Angler? I have been searching this forum and others for info. I'm in the process of restoring mine and need to figure out if I can remove the tank from the cockpit deck. There doesn't seem to be much room to tilt and pull the tank out from the deck area, unless its just a matter of cutting the deck far back enough. The other problem I'm wondering about is how the tank is secured, and any methods to get it out. Help is much appreciated, thanks. I have been working on removing all the hardware and repairing fiberglass. I have the console removed so I figured I would look into replacing the tank even if I don't have leaks.Pretty sure I have a 45gal tank but thinking of replacing it with a 35-40 gal smaller Moeller Marine permanent tank since I'm running a F150. Still researching......

    Master Angler Production

You MBC guys are generating some excitement with the possibility of manufacturing the Master Angler again on social media. What's the deal? This thing happening or what?
  23. Hi, My son and I are looking for a flats boat to fly fish S Florida from the Keys to Flamingo. We plan to use the pole and fish flats as well as some mangroves. We are looking at the Hewes Bonefisher 16 compared to the Maverick 17 ft Master Angler. We prefer a four stroke 90-115HP and are budgeting 12-18k so we know either of these will be a few years old. We are ok with a boat that needs some finishing touches, new batteries or electronics. Our main question right now is between the Bonefisher 16 and the MA 17...any thoughts on which of these might be the better boat? We know there are probably price differences and the MA will likely be more...just wondering if it would be worth the extra cost. We are also looking at Redfishers. Thanks for any observations or suggestions. DAW

    My First Maverick 1989

Picked up this 1989 18' Master Angler last week. Boat is in very good condition except for a few very minor cosmetic blemishes here and there that should be easy to fix. Excited to start working on it soon and give updates or ask for advice on this forum.

WTB 18' Hewes RF or Maverick MA

Looking for a later 90's model Hewes/Maverick. Not looking for a project boat but something that wont break the bank. I checked out a 19 Redfisher tunnel earlier today but it had some serious cracks all the way around the cap and inside the tunnel that looks like someone tried to repair.
