Hey guys, Listing my Hewes Bayfisher for sale. She has been a great boat, just looking for something a little smaller. Thinking about a maverick HPX, or similar. I have owned this boat since 2016, one previous owner. Boat is in great shape. Waxed 2x a year. Just replaced the trolling motor to the new ipilot link last month (older trolling motor is shown in some pics), Fortress 7 lb anchor, Humminbird Helix 7, and fusion sterio replaced in Jan 2018 with 4 new speakers. 4 new rod holders and wheel replaced Jan 2018 as well with custom parachord wrap. Have an Evacool fiberglass cooler will include with boat. New hubs, winch on the trailer last summer, new lights and guide posts too. Jack new as of last weekend. 24' push pole and vmarine removable holder for it as of January 2018. Power is a 150 HP Yamaha 2 stroke. Runs amazing, tops out at 48 when solo on boat. Serviced annualy by Brown Marine and will have it serviced prior to delivery. Boat does have minor Knicks as expected with a 20 year old boat. but overall great shape. Wiring is not perfect and there are the minor gel coat cracks that appear in the older hewes around hatches but overall amazing shape. Boat shows much better then a lot of newer ones. Open to trades for a smaller skiff, Prefer to stay with the MBG brand, top choice is a Maverick HPX, but willing to consider east cape, hells bay, or any higher end skiff plus cash on my end if needed. (dogs not included) Asking 16000 with everything, or consider trades as mentioned above. Not in a hurry to sell, want to see her go to a good home so listing here first. Give me a call/text if interested. 727-798-3673 Sam
I fish the Gulf Coats flats off the coast of Texas and am considering purchasing a Maverick HPX (or HPXV or HPXS). My concern is whether or not I’ll be able to use the boat while fishing without a partner to sight fish for Redfish. I’ve read about people fishing solo polling from the bow but never seen anyone doing that and I’ve never tried to do it myself. Is it reasonable to think that I’ll be able to have a good solo fishing experience in a Maverick (or any flats boat for that matter)? I hope to fish a few days a week and will sometimes be fishing by myself and don’t really want to do a lot of blind casting. Any other recommendations for techniques for fishing alone?
I finally had enough time to take the new boat out! Played some hockey in the morning (to burn off all that Turkey) then my gf and I took the boat out for a while... Forgot the cast net at the house smh so I just threw some plugs and managed a few small snook and lost a big dog snook that shook the hook boatside all and all a great time and she ran flawlessly, looking forward to more great days to come!
