  1. Costa sunglasses (Price Drop!)

Yep, that's a coastal NC area code. I'm in Southwest Florida now, but I lived on the Outer Banks (Nags Head) for about 30 years until I moved to Punta Gorda in 2009. I just kept the same cell # when I moved. I used to work for the NC Aquariums and traveled to Wilmington several times a year...but I didn't do any fishing there.
  2. Costa sunglasses (Price Drop!)

Hey guys, Thanks for your thoughts re: Costa prescription lenses. For what it's worth, about three months ago I got a pair of prescription glasses through my local eye doc. Costa made the lenses, put them in their Howler frames, one week turn around. Distance vision is tack sharp, progressive lens gives me great close up vision--best of both worlds. Expensive, but worth every nickel. I'm all good with my current glasses, I would just like to sell my old glasses.
  3. Costa Harpoon sunglasses. 580G green mirror glass lenses, tortoise frames. Excellent condition, absolutely no scratches on lenses, some wear on nose and ear pieces. Perfect for inshore and flats fishing. Original hard Costa case included. My old eyes now require prescription bifocal lenses. Ouch! You can get a deal and help this old dude pay for his new shades....$80.00--includes USPS first class shipping anywhere in continental US. Email joemalat@gmail.com or call 252-202-4189. Joe
  4. 2017 2200TRS Ice chest struggle

That's sort of what I did. Since taking these pics I removed the strips from the cooler. Two strips on the deck work for both a 72 qt Igloo and a 94 qt igloo.
  5. 2017 2200TRS Ice chest struggle

I wrote a short DIY article for Florida Sportsman Magazine a few years ago, featuring the starboard strips. Photos are attached. This has worked fine for me for years. I use the short bungees with hooks that clip to the leaning post to keep the cooler in place under the seat. Most of the time, during a day of fishing the bungees aren't attached and the cooler does not slide out by itself, yet is easy to pull with one hand when I need to open the lid. On super rough days or when I have a long, bumpy run home, I'll secure cooler with the bungees. Simple, cheap, effective. Joe

  9. Advice on VHF radio and antenna

Another vote for the steel whip with the spring loaded quick disconnect. When the whip is installed it drags against the overhead of my garage door. I keep the whip in a bow locker for an emergency, but I also have a handheld clipped to the top of my windshield for routine use. Pics of both applications attached.
  10. WTB PP/Trailer

Fin, Give me an e-mail address and I'll send some to you. Joe
  11. WTB PP/Trailer

Fin, Can't help with the PP, but I might have a trailer...depends on what your'e looking for. Within the next month or so two I'm going to be replacing the trailer for my 2002 22' Pathy--same hull as yours. Current trailer is a 2006 Ameratrail and I bought it new. I put new radial tires, new brakes and bearings on it two years ago. It's been a great trailer and garage kept all of its life, but dunked in saltwater a lot. . There's some rust on the axles. Most of the time I only trailer the boat about 2 miles to the ramp on back streets and it's good for that, but I'm planning to do some long distance runs in the next year or so and would feel more comfortable with a new trailer under the boat. So...what I have is fine for short runs or a hurricane haul out for a boat that lives in the water, but it's probably not the best for running long distances. I would like to get around $1,200 for it. Let me know if you are interested, I'll shoot a few pics and send them to you. Joe
  12. Different style windshield

I had the same issue with the grab bar/top of windshield on my 22 foot Pathfinder being directly in my line of sight all the time. So...I trimmed the windshield and cut down the grab bar. A fairly easy job, but I have done work with plex before. First I decided where to make the cut, removed the windshield, covered the windshield anywhere the saw base would touch the plex with blue painter's tape, marked it, clamped the windshield to a workbench and made the cut carefully with a fine tooth blade/battery powered circular saw. Wet sanded the cut edge with 400 grit, then polished the edge. I used a stainless steel pipe cutter to make clean cuts on the grab bar, and cut down the bar without removing it...working slowly and carefully. Rubber furniture tips covered the cut edges. The boat is a 2002 model. I made the mod about three years ago, and wondered why I waited so long! It's not for everyone, but certainly worked for me.
