    Nose sits high while underway

Gonna try these tips on the water this weekend. Looks like it’s going to be a tad windy.

So run above 25MPH lol, I should probably get some prop recommendations. I’m going to post what prop is on the boat today or tomorrow.

It does plane out and rides flat at higher speeds. If I’m going slow 10-15MPH the nose sits high. My trim tabs are always horizontal

    Nose sits high while underway

I would have to say that I do slowly apply the throttle to plane out until I reach speeds of about 20-25 mph where it starts to sit back down with the motor trimmed all the way down. I don’t gun it. If I’m going at really low speed the boat is sitting horizontally. I’ll get more info soon

Very interesting, I figured it wasn’t the trim tabs. I’d have to go and take a look at the prop today. I’m sure it has more to do with the prop.
  6. Bought a 1997 Hewes Redfisher 18 and have been using it and getting used to it. One thing I’ve noticed is that when I am underway, the nose tends to sit pretty high unless I am running fast and doesn’t go down as fast as I thought it would off of plane. Still getting used to the trim tabs while running the boat. Can anyone give me any tips on running the boat and on having the boat sit flat while underway.

    Really wet bilge

    So check everything basically

    Really wet bilge

I have a 1997 Hewes Redfisher. Took my boat out this weekend and noticed that I was constantly getting water in my bilge and was always having to turn it on to get rid of water. It was quite the amount. It wasn’t a normal wet bilge that has minimal amount of water. I don’t know if I have a cracked hose or pipe, id have to take a look at all the hoses and pipes and what not. The hull is good, that’s for sure. There are no cracks or leaks in the hull. Can someone give me pointers on where to start my search. What hoses to look at and what not. Would be appreciated! if someone can also explain how my live well works on these boats. Water was coming into it while I was out. I guess I have a shut off valve for the water? Could the water in the bilge be coming from the live well? Water was coming into my live well I’m guessing because i didn’t shut off the valve, but then how would that water go from the live well to the bilge area. The live well should drain outside the boat.

    WTB push pole

Want to buy a push pole. Show me what you got. Located in Miami
  10. Anyone have any tips, or websites with information on how to wire a 97 Redfisher? I’d like a drawing with info on how to do the rewire. Where to get materials for the rewire, replacement pumps and what not.

    What push pole to buy

    Great insight

    What push pole to buy

I’ve heard a lot of good things about CM but I do understand that staking out is a no go with carbon as it is somewhat fragile. I was looking at fiber glass because I am able to stake out without a worry, although it is heavier.

    What push pole to buy

I’m looking for a nice 18-24 foot push pole to pole around my 18 foot 1997 Hewes Redfisher. I will be poling around anywhere between 3-6 foot of water and usually staking in 10 -12 feet of water on the outside of channels and bridges down In the keys if that is possible. I wanted something stiff and not too bendy I’m guessing. This is going to be my first pole and I need the advice. I will be fishing around the grass flats and mangroves. I don’t want to be tossing and picking up my anchor out every hour.

    Original color

I’ve heard that dry sanding can clog the pores on the gelcoat

Has anyone tried using marine 31 heavy cut oxidation cleaner? I’ve read good reviews on it. I’m still debating whether to dry sand it or not. I know for sure I do not want to do it by hand as that is going to take me hours and hours. I’m about to buy shurholds wet sander with the GFCI to do it that way. I know there’s no compound that’s going to take it off but maybe that marine 31 could. I’m not sure.
