  2. Push Pole preference

I have a 22ft Stiffy hybrid on my HPXS, and it's as light as a feather, in my opinion. Of course using nothing but wood and heavy glass poles in Key West since the 60's, any newer pole would be light to me! I'm very happy with the hybrid!
  3. Sun Glasses

I've been a Costa user for many years, but have switched to Smith Optics Guides Choice in blue mirror. The lens are similar to Costas 580P that I have used. I prefer the fit of the Smiths. Have been using them for several weeks now, and love em!
  4. BOLO for my Stolen 18' Mirage HPX 2004 Maverick

Very sorry for your loss:(((((( it is a beauty!!! I'll pass the word up in the Jupiter area, and keep an eye out while on the roads. Hoping you will eventually recover it!! Awesome boat!!!!!!
  5. My "new" 2000 17' MA...

Beautiful boat, Dave!! My brother bought the same model a few years back, a 17MA, same color, and I believe the same year! Lol! He loves that boat! Very stable hull, great crossing open stretches of water. Congratulations on a great find!!! I'm sure there will be a lot of big fish coming over those gunwale's!! Enjoy!!!!
  6. 2015 Maverick HPXS "Cracked Conch"

Thanks, Dave! LOVE the boat!!! Been wanting a nice flats skiff since I was a teenager! Could never afford one. Started flats fishing in the lower keys in the late 60's in a 12 Sears Gamefisher with an 25hp on it!! Lol! Would run in wet grass! Tore up the Bonefish in that thing! Had an old Fiberglass 18ft flats skiff and an old Doyle Spinfisher after that. This HPXS is a dream come true for me! All I need now is a sissy bar for the platform so my old *** doesn't fall off!! Lol!! I trailer it a lot, as the fishing in Jupiter is WAY different from the Keys!! Made room in the garage so it stays in good shape, hopefully! Hopefully get to trailer it to the owners tournament next year!
  7. Marquesas Keys

Your route looks good! I was born/raised in Key West, have made that run many times since the late 60's. More boats make the crossing now a days but the fishing is still good! In the summer you have to be very careful of the weather! Those afternoon storms come out of nowhere with the afternoon heating and can be very nasty! Boca Grande Channel or "flapjack channel" as the locals called it can be as bad as some of the inlets on the east coast when the tide opposes the wind, especially on a spring tide! You'll get "standing men" type waves that stack and can be big trouble for a flats boat. We've spent the night down there waiting for calmer conditions in the channel the next morning. I won't run my HPXS down there, because of the flat bottom, but we don't hesitate to make the run in my brothers 17 Master Angler.
  8. I joined the family!

Awesome boat!!! Welcome to the family!
  9. Native Key Wester, but now living in Jupiter. Fish the Lower Keys, Flamingo, but looking forward to trying Mosquito Lagoon area, Crystal River and Pine Island area. Glad to be on a great forum and sharing info! Also looking forward to the owners tournaments!
